‘RHOA’ Alum Peter Thomas Arrested for Drunk Driving and No Driver’s License
The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum and Cynthia Bailey’s ex-husband, Peter Thomas, was recently apprehended for driving under the influence.
As per the arrest record, Peter Thomas, 63, faced several misdemeanor charges on Tuesday, January 9, in Atlanta. These charges include driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a vehicle with expired tags, driving without a valid license, not having proof of insurance, failure to maintain lane, and violating a traffic control device.
Peter was detained but subsequently released on bail after a few hours. Peter faces several conditions following his bail release. These include abstaining from alcohol and drugs, submitting to random drug tests, and a ban on possessing firearms. Additional specifics about the restaurateur’s arrest remain undisclosed, and Peter himself has not publicly commented on the situation.
In 2019, Peter faced legal issues when he was arrested on accusations of issuing fraudulent checks. Following his release in March of that year, he refuted the allegations, denying any wrongdoing in the matter.
“I understand the seriousness of the allegations that have been filed against me, however, the allegations are false,” Peter told Us Weekly in a statement. “I do have faith in the judicial process and have no doubt that I will be acquitted from any wrongdoing. While I can offer no further information about this incident, I do confirm that my attorney is handling this matter expeditiously.”
Peter gained public attention during his time on RHOA, starting from the show’s third season, where his relationship with Cynthia was a focal point. Their journey, which included their engagement, marriage, and eventual divorce, was a significant part of the show’s storyline. After his separation from Cynthia in 2013, who is currently 56 years old, Peter departed from the series.
Following their divorce, Cynthia found love again with Mike Hill, leading to their marriage in October 2020. However, this relationship also came to an end, with the couple parting ways two years later in October 2022.
“In the beginning, it was the distance. And then, it was me going into my next chapter, transitioning into a different career,” Cynthia told Us of her divorce at the time. “You know, he’s transitioning into different careers with job situations. So we both had a lot going on, and honestly, when I left Housewives I moved to a different city, a different house, and a different career I had to focus on.”
After her breakup, Cynthia rekindled her relationship with Peter.
“Peter reached out to me,” she told Page Six in October 2022. “He said he just wishes me the best. He told me I was a queen and that I deserve the best, so that was really, really nice.”
Cynthia ultimately left The Real Housewives of Atlanta in September 2021 and has since made a switch, appearing on season 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Recently, Cynthia attended Kyle Richards’ notable CBD dinner as one of her guests.
