‘Summer House’ Stars Carl Radke and Kyle Cooke’s Friendship Falls Apart

Summer House stars, Carl Radke and Kyle Cooke’s friendship appears to be going strong, but the on-camera bromance hasn’t always been easy.

Carl and Kyle appeared together on the debut season of Summer House, which premiered in 2017. Kyle founded his business, Loverboy, in 2018, and Carl began working for his friend the following year.

Carl officiated the nuptials of Kyle and co-star, Amanda Batula, in 2021. Their friendship hit a bump the following summer, as Carl’s relationship with Lindsay Hubbard heated up. Lindsay and Carl got engaged in August 2022 and shocked fans when they split a year later. Carl chose to leave Loverboy around the same time.

“I love being around Kyle. I care about him and I love him but it’s been hard. I’m not gonna lie. We’re gonna navigate it the best we can,” Carl told Us Weekly in February 2023, referring to the challenge of combining a business relationship with a friendship.

Carl and Kyle remained friends amid the headline-grabbing breakup, but fans remain curious about where the duo stands today.

Kyle and Carl have both addressed their complicated friendship during their ups and downs on Summer House.

“He’s checked out. Ever since he’s been dating Lindsay, he’s been doing less,” Kyle said of his pal and employee, during Season 7.

The show featured the two arguing on a beach, with Carl declaring — “I’ve been working my ass off, and it’s not good enough.”

Kyle told his co-stars — “Carl could you walk away from the company right now and the company won’t feel a f—king thing!”

“I’ve always been ‘Team Kyle,’ so to hear otherwise, sometimes it’s hard. But I wanna move forward and not necessarily focus too much on the past,” Carl had previously stated— “I 100 percent think I can get back to that place with Kyle.”

Carl explained in a February 2023 interview with “Entertainment Tonight”— “I’m beyond proud of what I’ve done for that company, but for me day to day — I’m doing other things now which is great. I’m fully supportive of the company, I still get texts and emails about Loverboy, I pass them to the right person, but I think it was best I moved on.”

Carl added that the duo had decided to focus only on their friendship.

Kyle and I just got dinner together the other night, you know? We’re friends,” he said. “It’s gonna be hard to relive all of it [on the show] but I think both of us are very supportive of the journey.”

Kyle supported Carl later that year in the wake of his August breakup from Lindsay.

“I want to emphasize they’re both hurting. This is a very unfortunate situation,” Kyle told E! News in October. “Yes, he’s the one who called it off and he’s giving her space. He’s basically homeless, letting her live in the apartment that they both pay for. But he drew the line in the sand.”

He added — “The poor guy’s trying to figure this all out in real time.”

In November, Kyle announced that Carl would be returning to work part-time at Loverboy, as the company prepared to launch a new nonalcoholic product line.

“Happy 3-year sober anniversary to my bestie @carlradke,” Kyle wrote on Instagram, earlier this month. “I’m so proud and inspired by your growth and determination to be the best version of yourself. Keep up the good work brother! I can’t wait to hit the road with you like the good ol’ days, this time with non-alcs in hand. #LFG.”

Summer House is expected to return to Bravo later this year.
