Todd Chrisley Experiencing Backlash in Prison After Exposing Dangerous Conditions

Savannah Chrisley claims that her imprisoned father, Todd Chrisley, is receiving backlash for his outspoken public stance on unacceptable prison conditions.

In June 2022, Todd and wife, Julie Chrisley, were found guilty of 12 counts of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud, and conspiracy. The duo was indicted in August 2019 for allegedly submitting fraudulent bank records to secure more than $30 million in loans.

The Chrisley Knows Best patriarch is currently serving a 12-year sentence at Florida minimum security facility, Federal Prison Camp Pensacola. Julie is serving out a seven-year sentence in Federal Medical Center Lexington. In September, both sentences were reduced, Todd’s by almost two years and Julie’s by fourteen months. Todd will be released on January 22, 2033, almost two years ahead of the conclusion of his 12-year sentence. Julie will be released from on October 19, 2028.

Todd was hit with backlash after he detailed unsafe living conditions inside the prison, during a recent phone interview with Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation, according to his daughter.

“It is heartbreaking for me to watch as his daughter,” Savannah told NewsNation, adding that the “retaliation is real.”

“They have gone to the extent of stating that they will try to ship him to a state facility because our federal institutions cannot guarantee his safety,” Savannah told the network.

Savannah claimed that she was contacted, via a letter from anonymous prison staffers, after Todd told the network that he had been targeted by workers while living in filthy conditions.

Savannah said she received shocking information that “should scare the warden and the [Bureau of Prisons].”

“The BoP has called me a liar numerous times, but I have all the information to back it up,” she said. “And these letters, I mean, I even have recordings of them speaking about shipping my father … but they have to have a good reason to. They have to find something he’s in violation of.”

She went on to say that the prison had gone to “the extent of planting cell phones, drugs, going through his lockers” in an alleged effort to send him and another inmate “to a facility and truly behind bars.”

Several months ago, reports alleged that Todd was being mistreated due to his celebrity status. In July, Savannah and her brother, Chase, claimed that their parents were experiencing “inhumane” conditions in their respective prisons.

Todd and Julie continue to remain hopeful that their case will get a second look, despite their appeal being pushed back from March to April 2024.

Todd isn’t happy, but he’s content with the oral argument,” Todd’s attorney, Jay Surgent, told Radar Online of the case.

He added that the family was “hoping and believing” their case will get “full consideration” and that the convictions will be reversed.
