‘RHOBH’ Star Annemarie Wiley GOES OFF On ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ Sutton Stracke While Defending Kyle Richards
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Annemarie Wiley recently shared her thoughts on co-star Sutton Stracke’s behavior, likening it to “Jekyll and Hyde” while defending her friend, Kyle Richards.
Speaking on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, Annemarie described her experiences with Sutton.
“It’s almost like two steps forward, one step back with Sutton,” she said. “You think you’re kind of getting to a good place and then she kind of brings out the talons and she kind of does a 180 and this whole Jekyll and Hyde situation starts happening,” she added, referencing her own conflict with Stracke, which viewers have dubbed “Esopha-gate.”
The tension between Kyle, 54, and Sutton, 52, escalated during a trip to Las Vegas earlier in the season. Stracke’s frustration with a provocative dance display at a Magic Mike show put her at odds with Kyle and Erika Jayne, leading to further drama back in Beverly Hills. During a dinner, Sutton questioned Kyle about her marriage to Mauricio Umansky, which Annemarie found unsettling.
Reflecting on her introduction to the group, Annemarie said:
“It was hard because coming into this group of ladies, my first time meeting everybody at the dinner at Kyle’s house and there’s body-shaming, there’s fit-shaming, there’s sober-shaming.”
She felt protective of Kyle, who was being criticized for making healthy lifestyle choices. Annemarie, an athlete herself, found Sutton’s focus on being thin and the weaponization of fitness against Kyle difficult to process.
At BravoCon 2023, Kyle suggested Sutton was seeking drama or viewer attention by engaging in spats with her. Despite their current friendship hiatus, Kyle believes reconciliation is possible, saying, “I would not say it’s permanent. I’m someone who gets over things fast. I don’t only forgive, I also forget but to my detriment. So I have to protect myself a little right now.” Kyle also expressed her concern over Sutton discussing her marriage, which impacted her family.
Annemarie perceives Sutton as someone who enjoys probing into others’ lives without being equally open about her own. This dynamic, Annemarie believes, escalated the “Esopha-gate,” issue beyond necessity. Sutton has talked about her strictured esophagus and its impact on her eating habits, a claim that initially puzzled Annemarie, a nurse anesthetist. Annemarie has since apologized for her earlier facetious remarks about Sutton’s condition, acknowledging the seriousness of the topic and her role as a medical professional.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills continues to air on Wednesdays, at 8 p.m. ET, on Bravo.
