Sister Wives: Christine Brown Admits David Wanted Wedding Spinoff
Christine Brown’s fairy tale wedding will begin to unfold Sunday on TLC, but it wasn’t the Sister Wives star who pushed for a televised ceremony.
Christine, who announced her split from Kody Brown in November 2021, revealed that it was her new husband, David Woolley’s idea to share their big day with fans, in a new interview with In Touch.
“We were talking about our wedding and things like that. And then just through the discussion he’s like, ‘Look, you have people that have been watching you for 14 years now and they’ve been following your story and now you have this romance and you have everything that you wanted. And I think they would appreciate watching it,’” Christine told the outlet.
Christine, 51, explained that the couple went “back and forth” about inviting cameras into the mix, adding that David, 60, believed that fans “would like watching it.”
The couple also considered skipping the whole ordeal and eloping.
“I wanted to go to Vegas and go to the KISS place and dress in those big tall things,” David said. “But I knew she wanted her fairytale wedding, and so I wanted to give her what she wanted on that part, too. And I did, too.”
David noted that Christine’s fans would want a front row seat for the big event.
“I knew that they wanted to be part of it, and I had no problem with it,” he said. “It was different to see all the cameras and everything and all this stuff going on. I thought we were at a royal wedding, and it was like, ‘Wait a minute, this is my wedding.’ This is weird. Because there was too much attention going on. It was crazy.”
David shared that he was caught off guard as cameras captured the day, but the confusion was nothing new for Christine.
“I don’t know anything different,” the mom of six said, adding that the event felt “really intimate and small” despite the production crew.
“We had a relatively small filming crew and I’m like, ‘Wait, I think it’s really intimate.’ And I think it really isn’t,” Christine continued. “I didn’t even notice the crew. I just didn’t.”
The couple went public with their romance in February, but a source later told the U.S. Sun that they had been secretly seeing each for months when they shared their relationship with the world.
The reality star and construction executive got engaged in mid April.
“We’re engaged! David popped the question VERY romantically, and I said YES! I’m so excited and just live in bliss every day!” Christine excitedly captioned an Instagram post, adding hashtags #engaged #newworld #soulmates #loveofmylife.
Part 1 of Sister Wives: Christine and David’s Wedding will premiere on Sunday at 10 pm ET on TLC.
