‘RHOBH’ RECAP: Dorit Kemsley Takes ZERO Accountability for Her ‘Unconscious Karen Behavior’

Happy New Year and welcome back to a new episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills! We’re at Crystal Minkoff’s Taco Tuesday dinner where we get a brief recap of the disagreement between Garcelle Beauvais and Dorit Kemsley. Garcelle had to check Dorit on the use of the word “attack” and why Garcelle can’t take it coming from the privileged Dorit.

Garcelle Beauvais

Feeling embarrassed, Dorit quickly makes an excuse to leave and hugs Erika on her way out. Once Dorit exits, Denise Richards brings up her issues with Erika Jayne and now all hell is breaking lose. Erika’s surprised that Denise expected her to play nice, especially after overhearing Denise call Erika a b**** and a c***. Denise calls Erika a mean woman as Erika tells Denise she asked for it.

Dorit Kemsley

Erika cut Denise to the bone by saying “I think it’s great, I just want to know; whose more profitable, you or Sami?” Erika questions Denise with ease while the other women gasp in shock. Denise calls Erika unbelievable as the two stare at each other while Kyle Richards declares that Lent is over with in her confessional. Denise mentions not wanting to fight with Erika and Erika asks what she wants as Garcelle jumps in to help Denise. Denise stumbles while asking Erika why she went after her kids and Erika maintains it was never about Denise’s kids. Erika brings up Denise’s dinner where she mentioned the size of her husband’s penis within earshot of her children. A flashback verifies Erika’s claims as Denise tries to rewrite history.

Denise Richards

Sutton Strake even remembers Denise making that comment and mentions Denise has some explaining to do. Denise continues telling Erika she’s wrong and after a quick back and forth; Erika explains her reasoning behind the “threesome” comment. Erika’s point is that all the women were discussing sex but for some reason Denise singled Erika out; by taking her to coffee to reprimand her. A flashback shows Denise and Erika sitting down and Erika apologizing to Denise for the slip up. Denise confuses Erika by claiming Erika’s the one who brought up the conversation at Sasquatch Coffee.

Erika Jayne

Erika takes a deep breath and tells Denise she can think and feel however she wants about Erika but that she has no more energy to give to the conversation. Denise and Erika drink their tea while staring each other down and Erika says she never wanted to fight. Denise disagrees because she thought Erika needed to fight with her to get the attention off Erika’s legal issues. Erika says “absolutely not” while Denise challenges Erika to stop deflecting but Erika hasn’t ran away from her issues once. Denise mentions the 20K that was deposited into Erika’s account and Garcelle says “Oh sh**!” as Erika defends herself. In the awkward silence, Kim Richards excuses herself as Denise tells Erika she hits below the belt.

Kyle Richards

Erika tells Denise to f*** off and that she failed multiple times before heading into the kitchen. Kyle wants family and children to be off limits but Garcelle wonders why Kyle didn’t say that while Erika was sitting there. Kyle was letting the women talk it out but also questions why the ladies didn’t speak up for her the other night? Kyle’s voice begins raising as she questions her friends and the many questions surrounding her marriage. Kyle speaks her peace as Sutton tries to backpedal and Kyle tells the ladies to figure it out.

Garcelle’s done and admits in her confessional she didn’t speak up for Kyle because she too is curious about the state of Kyle’s marriage. Garcelle wishes everyone a good night and almost leaves Denise by trying to run out the door. Crystal thought Erika really changed and now sees the old Erika creeping back in. Crystal feels Erika attacking Denise’s kids were too far and everyone leaves as Kyle warns Sutton not to make out with her driver. The next day Sutton’s talking to her fish as Kyle and her kids discuss tonight’s dinner. Garcelle’s checking in on her son Jaid while he’s laid up with his girlfriend Ashlyn.

Garcelle Beaauvais

Garcelle questions why the two teens are in the bed and questions where Jaid’s father is. Garcelle doesn’t like it but let them live as Dorit’s picking out her outfit with the help of her daughter, Phoenix. Erika stops by to visit and has Phoenix bring her a coke while Erika and Dorit sit outside. Erika catches Dorit up on what happened at dinner after she left and reiterates the confusion she experienced talking to Denise. Dorit laughs at Erika’s comment about Sami and Erika continues feeling justified in roasting Denise. After receiving her coke from Phoenix, Erika asks Dorit what the conversation was between she and Garcelle before things got out of hand.

As Dorit twist her lip, we’re back at Garcelle’s as she calls Sutton on FaceTime. Sutton tells Garcelle how emotional she got from seeing the look on Garcelle’s face as she spoke with Dorit. Garcelle sighs and admits to Sutton that she cried herself to sleep that night and even after waking up, she still didn’t feel better. Garcelle can’t believe Dorit used the word “attack” and feels that Dorit should know better. Garcelle clarifies that she never lunged or grabbed Dorit, so where does the word “attack” play into their conversation? In Garcelle’s confessional, she thinks Dorit doesn’t care to get to know her and is comfortable living inside her little bubble. Sutton understands why the situation is so sensitive as Dorit tells Erika she needs a few days to process everything.

Dorit Kemsley

In Dorit’s confessional, she admits she never meant to offend or rub Garcelle the wrong way by using the word “attack.” Now Dorit feels like she needs to figure out the best approach to handle this as Sutton tells Garcelle she’s happy that Garcelle pointed out Dorit’s privilege. Sutton also feels that Dorit lives in a bubble as Dorit tells Erika she felt her friendship with Garcelle was growing but now she feels blindsided, again. Erika doesn’t think Dorit’s a malicious person but that she was ignorant and knows better moving forward. Erika tells Dorit to talk to her and Dorit agrees as Sutton prepares to meet Alessandra to review Sutton’s date.

Erika Jayne

After pleasantries, Alessandra mentions that Sal (Sutton’s date) had great feedback for Alessandra and now she wants to know what Sutton thinks. Sutton tells Alessandra that the date went slow, and that Sal mentioned his mother a few times. Alessandra reads through Sal’s notes from the date as Sutton tries to hide within her couch. Sal was captivated by Sutton’s presence but doesn’t think Sutton’s very funny. Alessandra believes Sal may not have thought Sutton was into him and challenges Sutton to work on offering her dates compliments. Alessandra gives Sutton a few tips as Sutton jokes about complimenting a man’s belt buckle. Alessandra shows Sutton another option and Sutton likes what she sees.

The new option is a VP of sales and although Sutton doesn’t know much about the working class, Alessandra encourages Sutton to give this man a try. Meanwhile, Kyle’s making herself a sandwich as Kim stops by. Kyle shows off her new necklace as she explains the importance of humming birds in her life after the death of Mama Kathy. In the kitchen, Kyle mentions her niece’s upcoming wedding before Kim ask Kyle if she’s bringing anyone to the wedding. Kim doesn’t want any negative energy at Whitney’s wedding and Kyle mentions seeing Kathy Hilton at Elton John’s Oscar party. Kyle knows how to act cordial, but Kim thinks it’s important for Kyle to share how she feels.

Kim asks Kyle if she thinks she did anything wrong and without answering Kyle gets defensive and ask Kim to focus on a resolution since she doesn’t know the backstory. In Kyle’s confessional, she mentions Kathy apologizing to her, but that Kyle struggled to accept Kathy’s apology due to how Kathy acted months later. A flashback shows last years heated reunion as producers show us a post online where Kathy and Kyle argued. Kathy didn’t get why Kyle was so upset since she was the one who was “bullied and persecuted for 10 months.” Kim tells Kyle that she loves her and wants things to work out as Kyle says, “And what if I don’t want that relationship?”

Kim Richards

Kim misses the family but Kyle’s not willing to be mistreated by Kathy anymore. Kyle can’t handle Kathy’s mean streak and get emotional as she explains Kathy’s viciousness when Kyle was a child. Kim doesn’t like it either and Kyle can’t have a conversation with Kathy if she’s not going to be kind. Kyle doesn’t function well in chaos and tells us that although her mother was amazing; she was also a fiery Aries/Irish woman in the home. Kim encourages Kyle to try, and Kyle wants Kathy to make the first move. Kim becomes emotional while bringing up that Kathy would’ve never wanted this for her children. Kyle agrees and Kim begins to cry while admitting she understand Kathy now more than ever.

Kyle Richards

Kyle begins crying also while Kim breaks down and says, “I love mom” and the sisters hug it out while having an emotional breakthrough. Kim regrets Kathy didn’t know how much she loved her and encourages Kyle to be the bigger person, as Kyle admits to being scared to let Kathy back in. Kyle wonders if Kathy’s on board and Kim says Kathy will participate in mending things if Kyle does and it looks like we may be moving in the right direction! Kim tells Kyle to think about what’s best for her as we head over to Crystal’s. Rob Minkoff and the kids are cooking Passover Seder as Crystal sets the table. Rob and the kids explain what Seder is as Crystal discusses what Chinese and the Jewish community have in common.

The kids leave to find dessert as Crystal and Rob toast before Crystal dives into the drama from Taco Tuesday. Crystal tells Rob that the girls want her to engage more and rolls her eyes at the women calling Crystal quiet. A flashback shows Garcelle telling Crystal she needs to speak up in this group and Crystal finally going off by saying “Why can’t I speak in a soft voice?” while Garcelle tells Crystal “You don’t have to do anything.” Crystal thinks the group wants her to scream all the time, but Rob just feels Crystal has a lot of opinions and encourages Crystal to share her opinions with the group.

Crystal Kung Minkoff

Besides Crystal being annoyed for getting called out, she also tells Rob that the ladies are a lot skinner now. Crystal’s having a hard time focusing and not comparing her body to everyone else, so sometimes she doesn’t hear what the ladies are discussing. Crystal understands that LA is filled with people who are obsessed with their looks but Rob thinks Crystal’s too self-conscious. Crystal’s getting triggered by the ladies weight loss and admits to being distracted due to her issues but promises to work on it. Switching topics Crystal mentions her brother and that she hasn’t gotten to speak to him since his return to the US. Crystal’s feeling regret over her involvement in his relationship and thinks her brother resents her for it.

Although Crystal’s the younger sister, somewhere throughout their lives the dynamic shift to where Crystal acted more like a mom than a sister. It comes from a good place, but Crystal knows she puts unwarranted pressure on her brother and needs to check her controlling nature. Crystal promises to take a step back. That evening Sutton goes on a date with a new prospect named Steven. Sutton plans to be delightful while giving more compliments in order to get a second date. After ordering, Steve asks Sutton what she’s looking for in a partner and Sutton actually makes Steve laugh while answering his question. Sutton wants someone to keep up with her and soon Sutton and Steve bond over their love of podcast.

Sutton Stracke

Sutton and Steve are having a great time and Sutton is beginning to trust the process a bit more. Steve asks to see Sutton again and it seems like a spark is in the making! You go girl! The next day Garcelle’s meeting Dorit for lunch. Garcelle looks apprehensive and after ordering the two shares an awkward silence before grazing over the menu. Dorit looks uneasy as Garcelle looks around waiting for Dorit to start. Dorit admits the food is secondary to her and gives Garcelle the floor to start. Dorit wants to give Garcelle her undivided attention as Garcelle tells Dorit how tough the dinner was.

The waiter interrupts and the two order before going back to their conversation. Garcelle admits the word “attack” hit her in the wrong place, while explaining why certain words have a different connotation. Garcelle educates Dorit by telling her there’s three words you don’t say to a Black woman and that’s “Aggressive, Attack, and Angry.” Garcelle doesn’t have the bandwidth to educate Dorit but does encourage Dorit to be aware of who she’s talking to and what she says. Dorit didn’t think much of the word since the ladies say it a lot throughout the years but Garcelle questions if Dorit ever heard the ladies say that to her. Dorit doesn’t know and defends herself by telling Garcelle her intent wasn’t to hurt her.

Garcelle Beauvais

Dorit tells Garcelle “If anything I said offended you, I’m sorry” but Garcelle doesn’t seem ready to accept Dorit’s mistake. Garcelle admits she was emotional for two days and that she drove to the beach to understand why she was so triggered. Dorit asks Garcelle if she believes Dorit said that with ill intentions and Garcelle says yes! Dorit’s shocked and doesn’t seem to get it as Garcelle tries to remain focused on the topic at hand. Dorit wants to listen to Garcelle but also feels the need to defend herself. Dorit tells Garcelle she’s wrong and that she’s hurt while Garcelle points out Dorit’s pattern of “ unconscious Karen” behavior.

Dorit Kemsley

Dorit understands how serious Garcelle’s accusations are but doesn’t seem to grasp the seriousness of her actions towards Garcelle. Dorit asks for examples of Karen behavior and Garcelle mentions two years ago when Dorit mentioned hiring help that was multicultural. Garcelle asks Dorit if she’s grown since that moment and Dorit doesn’t understand why Garcelle keeps bringing it up. Dorit finally says that Garcelle’s making her feel racist and tells Dorit if there’s racist undertones then that’s not her fault. Garcelle’s not calling Dorit anything and Dorit apologizes again before telling Garcelle she feels like there’s more to their issues.

Garcelle Beauvais

Dorit brings up her Jewish heritage and Garcelle laughs in her face while asking what that has to do with anything. Dorit’s not happy that Garcelle labeled her as privileged and soon the two are arguing about who lives a privileged life. Garcelle asks Dorit why she doesn’t get that the world looks different in their shoes and Dorit claims to understand but mentions coming from a marginalized group. Dorit thought they would have more in common and tells Garcelle she feels everything is on her. Garcelle doesn’t like Dorit saying her name so much and Dorit mentions not wanting to trigger Garcelle further as Garcelle tells Dorit she doesn’t want her walking on eggshells.

Dorit Kemsley

Dorit admits Garcelle’s making her feel that way and Garcelle shrugs her shoulders without apologizing. Garcelle admits to Dorit that she’s been getting under her skin and the last straw was when Dorit claimed she attacked her. Although she doesn’t know how they will move forward, Garcelle wants to at least try because she doesn’t hate Dorit. Dorit apologized for triggering and hurting Garcelle again. Garcelle believes Dorit and thinks Dorit used a poor set of words. Dorit seems to get it now and promises to do better moving forward. Goodness, that was a lot! Be sure to come back next week for another episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
