‘RHOBH’ Newbie Annemarie Wiley Called Out for Pretending to Be A Doctor!
A couple of Bravo MDs are calling out Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newbie, Annemarie Wiley, for questioning Sutton Stracke about a medical condition on camera.
The Bravo rookie pointed out that Sutton was drinking alcohol while taking medication, Gabapentin, as cameras rolled. She also spoke to Sutton about her medical issue, which involved a “narrowing of the esophagus.” Annemarie, a nurse anesthetist, advised her co-star to chew her food more thoroughly, but her pro tip did not sit well with the Sutton.
Sutton asked during the recent RHOBH episode — “Why am I having a doctor’s appointment right now?”
Real Housewives of Miami anesthesiologist, Dr. Nicole Martin, took to Instagram to share her opinion on the matter, after many fans slammed the RHOBH rookie for crossing a personal boundary.
Nicole said in a posted video — “It does not matter where you fall on the spectrum — all the way from being a tech to being a doctor. You joined the profession to be an advocate for patients, and as such, it is not our place to belittle, question, or demean a patient’s symptoms or diagnosis.”
The Bravo star added — “We are there to facilitate and help the patient through the medical process, and it was just very uncomfortable and cringey to watch Annemarie belittle Sutton’s symptoms in such a way.”
Nicole captioned her filmed remarks — “Let’s not do this #gaslighting. Gaslighting can happen in medicine too. Medical gaslighting occurs when a medical professional dismisses or downplays a patient’s physical symptoms or attributes them to something else, like a psychological condition. Numerous factors can contribute to this behavior, but ultimately the patient is impacted so let’s do better.”
Nicole wasn’t the only “Housewife” from the medical community who was taken aback by Annemarie’s behavior toward Sutton.
Real Housewives of Dallas alum, Dr. Tiffany Moon, was the first Bravo doc to weigh in, after watching Annemarie talk down to Sutton.
Tiffany, also an anesthesiologist, stated — “I found that to be incredibly rude. But yeah, let’s not use our medical knowledge to come at people, especially when you’re wrong.”
Fans took to Twitter after the episode to blast Annemarie for what appeared to be targeted aggression toward Kyle Richards’ current nemesis.
One fan tweeted — “Annemarie is dumb. She’s about to nuke her medical career by continuously saying stupid stuff in an attempt to be Kyle‘s mouthpiece.”
Another wrote — “Annemarie put her credibility as an anesthesiologist at risk only to play Kyle’s lapdog. You know it’s bad when every other anesthesiologist on bravo came out to debunk her claims.”
One viewer asked — “So Kyle, Annemarie, and Dorit just want to sit up here and make fun of and laugh about Sutton’s condition?”
Another tweeted — “Kyle, Dorit, and Annemarie cackling about Sutton‘s medical condition….I can’t wait for them to get their asses handed to them at the reunion.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Wednesdays, at 8 pm ET, on Bravo.
