RECAP: ‘Sister Wives: One on One‘ Robyn Brown Seeks Blessings From Former Sister Wives to Validate Her Marriage to Kody
On the Sunday, December 17 episode of Sister Wives: One on One, Kody Brown abandons polygamy to be monogamous with his last remaining wife, Robyn Brown. Also, Robyn seeks blessings from her former sister wives.
Robyn Brown reveals that she needs the blessing of her former sister wives in order to move forward in her marriage to Kody Brown.
Robyn explains that she feels that it’s “disrespectful” for her to be happy in her monogamous marriage, in a preview clip of Sunday’s Sister Wives: One on One special.
“They want you to be happy with Kody. They all sat here and said, ‘We want Robyn and Kody to be happy. They have a special relationship,'” host, Sukanya Krishnan, tells Robyn.
She adds — “Christine has shared that with me. Meri has shared that with me, and also Janelle has shared that with me.”
Robyn insists — “They haven’t shared it with me off-camera.”
Kody’s fourth and last wife standing shares that she needs a private conversation with Meri, Janelle and Christine Brown in order to move on with Kody.
Robyn says — “I need an off-camera, to my face, because I don’t know how. It feels like it’s disrespectful to his kids. It feels disrespectful to the commitments that I made.”
The mom of five adds that she still feels a lingering “commitment” to Meri, Janelle and Christine.
“My commitment to them, to their kids, to Kody about this family, it’s not broken, and I don’t know how to break it,” she says. “I don’t know how to be done with it.”
Christine Brown was the first to announce that she was splitting from the TLC patriarch, in November 2021. Janelle confirmed her separation from Kody in December 2022. Meri and Kody announced that they were officially cutting ties a month later, after nearly a decade of estrangement.
Season 18 of Sister Wives documented the family fallout in the wake of the plural marriage collapse.
Last month, Christine and Janelle shared their thoughts on Kody and Robyn’s marriage in an interview with ET.
“They’re equally matched and equally yoked. They deserve each other. Did that sound bad? Did that sound snarky?” Christine told the outlet. “They completely deserve each other, and I want them to have the best life possible. They found each other and I know what it feels like to find your person. I know what I have with David and now I can understand what they have with each other. And I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, please have a good life.’”
Kody revealed that Robyn Brown was the only wife he ever loved during a previous “One on One” episode.
“I fell in love with Robyn, I never fell in love with anybody else,” Kody confessed. “I was just choosing to be in that covenant of love with them.”
“This isn’t about being like, ‘in love,’ this is about growing a family together, we love each other, we’re required,” the 54-year-old continued. “The gospel requires us to love each other, but I never really actually suffered in a fit a passion in this place.”
Kody added that he would approach the relationships differently today.
“The blame lay on one thing and one thing only, if you’re gonna marry for eternity, you should start out in love. I thought it was acceptable, I thought I could make up the difference,” he explained.
The Sister Wives: One on One special concludes Sunday at 10 pm ET on TLC.
