Bethenny Frankel Extends Olive Branch to Andy Cohen After Trying to Destroy His Career!
Bethenny Frankel has walked back her opinion about Bravo executive, Andy Cohen.
Last summer, the Real Housewives of New York City alum launched a war on NBCUniversal/Bravo and had some harsh things to say about Cohen. The former reality star seemingly changed her tune during Monday’s episode of her podcast, “Just B with Bethenny Frankel.”
“I see Andy Cohen in the distance in a flannel talking to some guys, just like drinking a beer, I think,” she said of spotting Cohen at the recent iHeartRadio Jingle Ball concert, in New York City.
Bethenny acknowledged that she did not interact with her former boss, explaining — “And … it’s too soon, you know for both of us I’m sure. But it’s like I know that we both have fond memories and it’s confusing all around.”
She added — “And I’m sure it’s confusing for him.”
The former Bravo star noted that that she’s been “fairly clear” about the fact that she has “no personal vendetta against” the Watch What Happens Live host.
She said that Cohen “reflects a sort of world” that she believes “got a little, in [her] opinion, out of control.”
The Skinnygirl mogul revealed that seeing the Bravo exec stirred up some old feelings.
“It’s the holidays and feeling sentimental. There’s no reason to, like, burn everything down to the ground,” Bethenny shared. “It’s not like I don’t find Andy very pleasant, very charming, very amusing and [I] have, like, fond memories.”
Bethenny told her listeners that she was “not delusional,” likely alluding to the scathing comments she made about Cohen during her “reality reckoning,” crusade.
Bethenny, who appeared as a main RHONY cast member for eight seasons, ripped into Cohen in the ABC News special, “Impact x Nightline: Reality Reckoning?”
“He didn’t make me a star,” she declared. “He made himself a star on the backs of all of these women.”
Earlier this year, Bethenny recruited two powerhouse lawyers who fired off a legal letter to the network, alleging that NBCUniversal’s practices included “grotesque and depraved mistreatment of reality stars and crewmembers.” She also called for reality stars to unionize amid last summer’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
“Hollywood is on strike, entertainers are fighting for residuals and no one will promote anything. Why isn’t reality TV on strike?” Bethenny asked her followers, in July. “Unscripted talent a.k.a. ‘reality stars’ should have a union or simply be treated fairly and valued.”
In August, Bethenny admitted that her relationship with Cohen had gone downhill.
“I can tell you with great certainty that everyone at Bravo likely despises me, including Andy Cohen,” she said during an appearance on Team Coco’s “Literally! With Rob Lowe” podcast.
She added— “because it’s very personal and because they have to protect the realm.”
She also contributed to a bombshell Vanity Fair exposé, which was published just ahead of BravoCon 2023. A fan asked Cohen to share his thoughts on Bethenny’s campaign during the November fan convention.
Cohen replied — “As we can all see, Bravo and the shows that are on Bravo bring millions of people so much joy and so much happiness, which is why we’re all here — to have fun. I live in the joy that these shows bring people, and I think we all do, and I think that’s the place that I’m at.”
He also called the article a “factually incorrect rehash of old stories” in a subsequent interview with Rolling Stone.
NBCUniversal has since strengthened its guidelines for cast and crew members working on the various reality shows.
