After a prolonged legal battle spanning over three years, Kenya Moore and Marc Daly are officially divorced.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star shared the news with PEOPLE, expressing her gratitude for the support she received throughout the challenging process.
Kenya Moore, 52, stated, “After more than three years of litigation, I have finally been granted a divorce. I want to thank everyone who prayed for and uplifted me when I needed it the most.” She went on to express her excitement about the next chapter in her life and her commitment to being the best mother she can be to her daughter, Brooklyn.
“As a hopeless romantic, I still believe my forever person exists and know I’ll have my happily ever after ending after all,” Kenya concluded, displaying her optimism and resilience in the face of a difficult divorce.
The lengthy divorce proceedings, which Kenya humorously referred to as “the world’s longest divorce” during an interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, began with the initial filing in May 2021. She later revealed that she and Daly had unfortunately not signed a prenuptial agreement before their marriage.
Kenya also addressed the challenges of having her marital issues play out on television, particularly on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. During an episode of the Tamron Hall Show in early January, she admitted, “It was a struggle just to work through our differences even during the show.” The reality star candidly shared that the show had exposed the difficulties in her marriage, highlighting their lack of compatibility.
“I felt like my voice was stifled a lot because I felt like I had to be a certain kind of wife to get along with him and his personality,” Kenya explained, emphasizing that this was not the essence of a healthy marriage.
During the season 14 reunion of RHOA, Kenya confirmed that she was “still not divorced,” and provided insight into the reasons behind the prolonged divorce process. She clarified that it wasn’t due to disputes over alimony or child support, saying, “He’s not asking for anything at this point. It’s just at a standstill so until we get a trial date or settle, it’s still going to go on.”
Despite her ongoing divorce, Kenya revealed that it hadn’t hindered her from exploring new romantic possibilities. She maintained this sentiment over a year later at BravoCon 2023 when she confidently declared, “I’m saying it right now: I will be single and divorced before 2024.”
Kenya Moore and Marc Daly tied the knot in June 2017 and welcomed their daughter, Brooklyn, in November 2018. Their relationship experienced its first separation in September 2019. While they briefly appeared to reconcile in February 2020, Daly confirmed in January 2021 that they had once again parted ways.
Moore officially filed for divorce in May of that year, citing that she had been living in a “bonafide state of separation” since September 2019, and their marriage was “irretrievably broken.” The divorce proceedings, marked by their complexity and duration, have now reached a conclusion, allowing Kenya Moore to embark on her new journey with hope and optimism for the future.
