NeNe Leakes Loses Lawsuit — Ordered to Pay $25k In Unpaid Rent
NeNe Leakes was ordered to pay up, after the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star failed to respond to her ex landlord’s lawsuit.
MPG-Sugarloaf LLC, the company that owns the property that housed NeNe’s since-shuttered business, Swagg Boutique, was awarded $25,631 according to court documents obtained by Radar Online.
The landlord claimed in the lawsuit that NeNe signed a lease in 2017 and extended the agreement by a year in 2021. The former Bravo star vacated the space in January 2022, but allegedly did not pay the $22K she owed in rent payments. The landlord stated that numerous attempts to collect the money were made before the lawsuit was filed. NeNe was personally served on August 16, 2023.
NeNe claimed that the unpaid rent was not her responsibility, days after the lawsuit was filed.
She told “The Jasmine Brand” that her late husband, “Gregg [Leakes] signed the lease, not me!”
She noted — “He ain’t here.”
Gregg Leakes died on September 1, 2021, after a long cancer battle.
The judge ordered that NeNe pay the the $22k in outstanding rent payments, $2,315 in attorney fees, and an additional $400 to cover court costs.
In September 2022, NeNe was sued by a Georgia photographer who claimed she was stiffed after working for the ex Bravo star at her Atlanta club.
Photography By Ace LLC filed a claim in Gwinnett County Court against NeNe and her business, The Linnethia Lounge.
The company stated that invoices had been sent to NeNe’s club along with reminders, in attempts to collect payment. The company said that the defendants had been contacted multiple times, via email, requesting payment for services rendered. The business said that NeNe had been refusing to pay the bill and was “no longer is communicating on this matter.”
In February, NeNe was ordered to pay $1k to the photog, after she failed to respond to the case.
NeNe has also experienced turmoil within her family, as her oldest son, Bryson Bryant, was recently released from jail after being arrested for possession of fentanyl. Bryson’s July arrest came alongside a probation violation tied to a separate criminal case, which resulted in a months-long sentence. Bryson told police that he was his younger brother, Brentt Leakes, during his first arrest, which resulted in an additional charge.
Meanwhile, RHOA star, Kandi Burruss, shared some good news when she cosigned NeNe’s potential “Housewives” comeback in a recent interview.
Kandi spoke to The Messenger about potentially stirring up drama with her former cast mate.
“I definitely would welcome [Leakes] back with open arms now,” she told the outlet. “I think it would be exciting. Let me just say that.”
