Southern Charm: Kathryn Dennis’ Hit-and-Run Victim Breaks Her Silence

South Carolina deputy sheriff, Michelle Ward, is speaking out after she was almost mowed over by Kathryn Dennis, in an October hit-and-run incident.  Ward told Radar Online that she could have been seriously injured or even killed if she hadn’t managed to get out of the way of the former Southern Charm star’s speeding SUV.

The school crossing guard told the outlet that she was thankful that her kids weren’t crossing the street when Dennis’ 2022 Ford Bronco zipped past Whitesville Elementary School in Moncks Corner.

Ward shared, via a phone interview, that she was scared for her life when she saw the speeding vehicle.

“You got a vehicle coming at you that, the speed limit over there is 35 (mph), but you can tell this person is not doing 35 and getting hit – that hurts,” she explained.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputy continued—“The vehicle struck me on the right side. Luckily, I turned around to notice that she wasn’t stopping because otherwise, I would’ve gotten hit in the back — blindsided. But I turned around and saw that the vehicle wasn’t stopping and tried to get out of the way, but I wasn’t faster than the car, unfortunately.”

Ward explained that she twisted her ankle when she tried to dodge the SUV, which sideswiped the right side of her body. She added that her right hand was smashed after she instinctively put it out to protect herself. Ward, who is still wearing a boot on her leg, acknowledged that things could’ve turned out much worse.

“Depending on how you get hit, you could hit your head on the concrete or asphalt, and that could be damaging,” she said. “I love my life. I’m not ready to leave. Even what they consider minor injuries – it’s major to me. I can’t do my normal job. I can’t do my extracurricular activities. There are a lot of things I can’t do. It hinders my life drastically.”

Ward used her police radio to relay a description of the vehicle as well as a partial license plate number to dispatch. She described the driver as a “white female with dirty blonde hair,” per the police report.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation  and has yet to charge Dennis.

Ward revealed that she had never watched “Southern Charm” and had not heard of the former Bravo star, until she was almost run over as she  protected students.

“I close my eyes, even today, and I can still see that person in the car,” she said.
