Bethenny Frankel DEFENDS Ramona Singer Over N-Word Scandal … Blames Reality TV Editing!
Bethenny Frankel has weighed in on a recent report that alleged that Ramona Singer used a racial slur while filming the “Real Housewives of New York City.”
The Bravo alum addressed the allegation, which accused her former co-star of using a racial slur against a black crew member, while on the red carpet at the Glamour Women of the Year event.
The allegation, which was highlighted in a recent Vanity Fair exposé, led to Ramona getting axed from BravoCon after clarifying her story to a Page Six reporter, via a text message that contained a partial racial slur.
The Bravo veteran was later fired from her her job at real estate firm, Douglas Elliman.
Stephen Larkin, Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for the company, confirmed — “She [Singer] is no longer with Douglas Elliman.”
Bethenny appeared reluctant to address the situation involving her former cast mate when approached by ET Online at the ritzy event.
“I think Ramona’s been in and out of this whole machine and one day maybe she’ll be able to explain herself in a manner that maybe she will be educated, or be able to explain herself,” the Skinnygirl mogul said.
She added — “I can’t take just what happens on reality TV at face value, but I don’t know. I honestly don’t know.”
Earlier this month, Andy Cohen spoke to Bethenny’s ongoing crusade against the network, dubbed “the reality reckoning,” during a BravoCon panel.
He said — “As we can all see, Bravo and the shows that are on Bravo bring millions of people so much joy and so much happiness, which is why we’re all here — to have fun. I live in the joy that these shows bring people, and I think we all do, and I think that’s the place that I’m at.”
The Bravo executive later sat for an interview with Rolling Stone and was asked to comment on the Vanity Fair piece, which claimed that Ramona had used the N-word while filming the Bravo reality series.
He called the bombshell article a “factually incorrect rehash of old stories.”
Bethenny referenced the controversy surrounding Ramona when she reacted to Cohen laughing off the exposé on Instagram. Cohen commented with a laughing emoji after the “Watch What Crappens” podcast’s Instagram account posted a meme captioned — “Vanity Fair breaks the news that adults drink and Ramona is a racist.”
“Riddle me this,” the Skinnygirl mogul said during a recent episode of her “Rewives” podcast. “If Andy Cohen is laughing at something regarding racism, why would he not be asked to leave BravoCon if Ramona texted something to someone in the media?”
“It’s 50 shades of bulls–t is what it actually is across the board,” she continued, noting that “for the first time in Andy’s career, he’s starting to feel what it feels like to be a Housewife.”
“I didn’t really think much about it,” Cohen told Rolling Stone when asked about his posted remark.
