The Family Chantel: Chantel’s Mother Sells Off Pedro’s Personal Belongings For One Dollar!
Pedro Jimeno has revealed the real reason behind his decision to walk away from his marriage to Chantel Everett. The Dominican Republic native blamed his ex’s family for the demise of his marriage during Monday’s episode of TLC series, The Family Chantel.
The couple’s nasty breakup exploded as Season 4 wrapped, last year. Cameras picked back up nine months after Pedro made the first move to end the marriage, according to a pre-season TLC press release.
Pedro and Chantel made a joint decision to split in May 2022. Pedro filed for divorce on May 26, stating that their marriage had become “irretrievably broken.”
Chantel Everett later cited adultery in a counterclaim. She alleged that “domestic violence” had occurred, accusing her husband of “cruel treatment” that caused her “mental pain.” The registered nurse stated that “the marriage is irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation.”
Pedro finally confirmed that he blamed Chantel’s family for supposedly changing her, which he asserted damaged their relationship beyond repair.
“A long time ago, me and Chantel was happy,” Pedro told cameras. “But her family controlled her, hated me, hated my family, and that was too much.”
He stated that he couldn’t stay in the marriage due to the family influence that he claimed had a grip on his now ex-wife.
Pedro appeared to take the breakup with ease, but bristled when the ex-couple came together for the first time to discuss the sale of their marital home.
“After not seeing him for nine months, he’s been out of sight and out of mind, but seeing him, was just a reminder of how badly I was treated,” Chantel, 32, told cameras. “The moment I sat down, I felt like I made a mistake to show up and grace someone with my presence, who had treated me so bad and evil.”
Pedro, a real estate agent, expressed frustration that he was not permitted to sell the house and save the $25k commission. He was also furious that he was not allowed to take his custom gaming chair from the home, as the divorce awarded Chantel the property’s contents.
The pair agreed to split their assets and the profit from the sale of their house 50/50. However, Chantel’s mother, Karen Everett, disagreed with her daughter’s decision to cut a deal to avoid a courtroom showdown.
“I told her, no, do not settle. Take him to court,” Karen told cameras. “You should’ve taken that scammer to court because you should have gotten alimony and the house. How dare he come in and tell you, ‘I’m going to divorce and I want the house?’”
The divorced duo’s Lawrenceville, Georgia home sold for $417k in March.
Karen hinted at upcoming family drama in the Season 5 preview trailer.
Karen declared that she would to protect her daughter “by any means necessary,” and revealed that she planned to hire a private investigator.
“Pedro has really hurt Chantel, and I don’t think that he should just walk away scot-free,” Karen said.
Pedro alleged in the teaser — “For a year Karen has been chasing me, behind me all the time, trying to get me deported.”
The Family Chantel airs Mondays, at 9 pm ET, on TLC.
