RECAP: ‘Married To Medicine’ Dr. Gregory’s Fiance Likes ‘Access to His Money,’ Toya Reveals Quad Has A DUI
Welcome to season ten of Married to Medicine. After a recap of ten years of Married to Medicine, we get a quick glimpse of what’s to come and what’s happened in the past. Let’s see what season ten has for us. First up, Dr. Eugene Harris is getting scared by Toya Bush-Harris as he shaves in the mirror. Dr. Jackie Walters is working on a pregnant patient per usual, as Dr. Simone Whitmore checks in on her patients.
Dr. Heavenly Kimes is looking beautiful as she shops and meets up with Jackie. The two joke about Heavenly’s shiny jacket as Heavenly throws shade at Toya in her confessional. Apparently, Heavenly and Jackie are at Pheadra Parks opening for The Vault. Jackie and Heavenly discuss Pheadra’s cardiologist boyfriend and soon Pheadra comes over to check in with Heavenly and Jackie. Heavenly has known Phaedra for years and seems excited to have new blood on the scene.
Phaedra explains The Vault is where Atlanta’s elite go to shop and Phaedra has no problems putting Jackie and Heavenly is fur coats. Jackie thinks Phaedra is smart and definitely seen her in action on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Heavenly inquiries about Phaedra’s boyfriend and Phaedra opens up about a Nigerian doctor she’s been dating for over a year. Heavenly offers Phaedra relationship advice.
Over at Simone’s, she’s setting out food for Cecil Whitmore. Simone jokes with Cecil as she explains in her confessional that she and Cecil have canned their book. The two are getting along better than ever and give Omarosa props for steering them away from going down that rabbit hole. Simone and Cecil didn’t need to revisit that tumultuous chapter in their lives and now the two are bonding more than ever.
Meanwhile, Toya and Eugene show up to hang out while revisiting their problems from last year. A flashback shows Toya going off at Quad Webb’s Christmas party and last year’s reunion. Eugene admits it felt like a sheet of stress over their marriage but after Simone and Cecil gave them a lecture; the Harris household is back on good terms. The four of them drink and joke about the possibility of Toya being pregnant, before toasting to Dr. Gregory Lunceford’s new fiancée. Toya’s surprised Greg wants to get married again, especially after such a scary marriage to Quad.
In her confessional, Toya reveals she was shocked when she learned what really went down in Quad and Greg’s marriage. Toya says it was very dark as we get a flashback of Quad & Greg’s tough time. At the Vault, Jackie, and Heavenly reveal they haven’t spoken to Quad since last year’s reunion. Heavenly believes Quad is ignoring the ladies because her feelings are hurt but Heavenly made sure to mention she doesn’t have time to cater to Quad’s ego. Phaedra says Quad’s living her best life, traveling to go shopping and having fun. Heavenly on the other end thinks Quad is on the next flight to Nigeria to find her next victim, I mean man. Meanwhile, Quad’s at home playing with her wigs as Heavenly suggest Quad could also be sleeping with someone’s man.
The three begin discussing Dr. Greg and his new fiancée, and we find out Phaedra has known Greg for over twenty years. Jackie brings up how Quad told the girls that Phaedra also dated Dr. G, but Phaedra puts a cork in that real quick. Heavenly’s unsure if she believes Phaedra and says, “The truth ain’t in the b-tch.” Phaedra moves on to greet her other patrons as Jackie tells Heavenly to stop yelling. At Simone’s, Dr. Greg, and newbie Lateasha (now) Lunceford arrive as Simone and Cecil brag about how happy Greg is now. Lateasha’s ready for their engagement party and we find out it’s Western Glam and I’m here for it. Simone ask Greg what made Sweet Tea so special, and Greg admits his DM’s was popping after his divorce from Quad. Lateasha was one of those DM’s and told Greg she could give him what he needs.
Long story short, he responded and now they’re happily in love. Sweet Tea sent a baby emoji and everything letting Greg know she’s ready for a family. Lateasha is thirty-one years old but age ain’t nothing but a number as Greg and Lateasha smoosh in Simone’s kitchen. The next day, Heavenly and Alaura are shopping for a prom dress! Heavenly wants her little girl to be covered up but Alaura has grown into a beautiful young woman! Heavenly’s not looking forward to her little girl leaving the nest but is excited to see her daughter grow up. As Heavenly’s picking out Alaura’s options, she explains when her son’s graduated; they decided to stay close by, but Alaura has other plans. Three weeks ago, Alaura told Heavenly that she wants to go to FAMU, but mama bear ain’t having that.
Alaura’s first option is beautiful, but she decides to try on more for fun. Alaura is so gorgeous and Dr. Heavenly should be very proud! Alaura made her choice and told Heavenly she’ll met her at the register and to have her card ready. Heavenly has to return to work but is grateful to be able to afford things she never got as a kid. At Greg and Sweet Tea’s, they’re getting ready for their engagement party and are ready for the hoedown! Lateasha grew up in Texas and wants to pay homage to her roots. Greg’s excited to see the fellas but Sweet Tea’s nervous to meet the crew. Greg knows they’ll be supportive and tells Sweet Tea she has nothing to worry about. Jackie’s home getting ready and calls Heavenly to see if she’s ready for the party. Heavenly thinks calling the engagement party a “hoedown” is tacky, but Jackie had to let Heavenly know, Sweet Tea is from Texas.
Jackie met Sweet Tea when Greg brought her to Jackie’s event and Jackie threw some shade, claiming she didn’t know if Greg used to babysit Lateasha back in the day. Jackie ask Heavenly how she feels about going over Quad’s old house. It’s been five years since they last visited and now that Greg has a new wife, things might get a bit awkward. Heavenly thinks the house looked better with Quad living there and claims Lateasha is a “tar-jay” type of girl. Jackie checks Heavenly and gets off the phone before Heavenly says anything else crazy. That night: Toya, Eugene, Simone, and Cecil are riding to the hoedown together and Simone ask Toya if everything’s cool with Heavenly.
Toya says she hasn’t noticed Heavenly doing anything negative on social media and wants to make sure Heavenly stays on the right path. It’s refreshing for Toya to see Heavenly make a change but isn’t holding her breath that this change will be permanent. Simone hopes things will go smoothly and soon they arrive for the engagement party. The crew love the outfits and the how Lateasha transformed the house. Eugne and Toya are first to ride the bull and Eugene gives Toya’s butt a nice smack. We also see that Sweet Tea is a twin when her sister Kaneasha stops by. Although they are fraternal twins, they look so much alike and they’re best friends. Jackie arrives and we find out Curtis Walters is in the Dominican Republic, as Jackie wonders what’s changed since she’s last visited.
As everyone grabs a plate and begin mingling, Dr. Damon Kimes and Heavenly arrive ready to party. We meet Dr. Alicia and her husband Dr. Kema who are friends with some of the girls. Dr. Alicia moved from DC to Atlanta and is the newest dentist in town. Toya and Heavenly hug and Toya compliments Heavenly for being nice. Simone would say otherwise but we move on as Phaedra arrives in a pink frizzy hat. Toya’s loving Phaedra’s outfit as the fellas give Eugene props on his weight loss. Eugene feels much better now that he’s slimmed down and Toya’s happy that Eugene is going hard in the bedroom. The fellas go outside to have a cigar and Cecil tells Greg that Lateasha is special because he can’t even hear the ladies inside.
The ladies are mingling inside and Heavenly ask Lateasha what she enjoys the most about being engaged. Lateasha says, “a little bit of access to the money” and the room falls silent! The side-eye is side-eyeing and Phaedra’s gold-digging radar is going off. Lateasha continues joking about how nice her living arrangements are and putting her foot deeper down her throat. Heavenly ask Lateasha if she’s ever been called a gold-digger and Lateasha almost trips up on the question before Toya comes in for the assist.
Outside, the fellas are discussing how to remain cool in the midst of the ladies issues. Cecil and Eugene give advice to pick their battles as Toya tells Lateasha she wants her to feel comfortable. Toya brings up Quad and how Heavenly and Phaedra are still close. Toya doesn’t know why Quad isn’t around but is curious about where Quad is in her life. Then, Toya drops a bomb and ask Phaedra if she’s handling Quad’s DUI case! Phaedra acts dumb but Toya’s a fact checker and says it’s public information! Phaedra says she can’t confirm or deny as someone mentions they should check on Quad. Lateasha steps up and says she won’t make the night about Quad and makes it clear that those who are in attendance are there for her and Greg.
Lateasha says Greg is more stable and ready to settle down, and thanks Simone for referring her to Dr. Davis; whose is a fibroid specialist. This doesn’t sit right with Heavenly and Heavenly wonders why Simone didn’t refer Lateasha to Jackie, to keep the money in the group. Simone explains that Jackie is a general OB/GYN and what Lateasha needed was a specialist but Heavenly isn’t hearing that! Heavenly trust Jackie with anything and soon Simone and Heavenly are yelling at each other over what Simone can and can’t do in the OR. Lateasha and her sister shut the noise down to explain that Greg referred Lateasha to Simone, and that’s how she got referred to Dr. Davis.
Lateasha tells the group how she got her nickname as her sister gets dubbed the “mean tea.” Before everyone heads out, Phaedra wants to clear the air but before she could say anything; Heavenly says “That you didn’t sleep with Greg.” Phaedra says no and everyone burst out laughing. The next day, Simone and Toya are having lunch while discussing the engagement party. Simone thought it was a sh** show and Toya wonders if Heavenly will apologize for her actions. Simone doubts it as Heavenly and Jackie discuss the bad food at the party. Phaedra’s boys are so big now and asking about Dr. O as Greg and Lateasha talk wedding details. Greg’s excited and Lateasha’s ready to get things going. Lateasha didn’t like how the topic of conversation became about Quad and although Greg apologized; Lateasha still feels some type of way.
Lateasha wants to make sure they know there’s a new sheriff in town and things will be different this time. Greg mentions that people told him that he and Quad weren’t right for each other but now he feels at peace knowing he found his partner. Greg’s ready to get out the dating game and Lateasha’s ready to make it official. The two go to the courthouse and obtain their marriage license to begin this journey. These love birds are so in love but a flashforward shows Greg stepping back into his old habits. He’s stressed over the finances but sure seems happy to celebrate at his bachelor party.
We get a glimpse of Lateasha’s bachelorette party and who shows up with Phaedra, but Miss Quad honey! We see Lateasha screaming and it looks like the mess has only begun! Be sure to come back next week for a brand-new episode of Married to Medicine.
