Lisa Vanderpump Shows Sympathy to Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky Amid Their Separation
Lisa Vanderpump hopes that her former pal and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star, Kyle Richards, can work it out with her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky.
The Vanderpump Rules star spoke to Page Six at BravoCon Friday, and shared that it “saddens” her to see the couple going through marital turmoil.
“I know there was a lot of love between them. There really was, and there probably still is,” she said. “So I think it saddens me to see anybody that’s been together that long [break up] because marriage is hard.”
Lisa added of the couple — “And I hope they can kind of get through this and facilitate some kind of [solution], you know.”
Kyle and Mauricio tied the knot in January 1996 and share three daughters, Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15. Kyle is also mom to Farrah Aldjufrie, 34.
In July, news broke that the reality star had split from the real estate mogul. The estranged couple denied that they were divorce-bound, only admitting that they had experienced a “rough year.”
Mauricio recently spoke to People about his marital status, describing the separation as “a bit of a rough patch.”
“She and I are currently separated, but we are not throwing in the towel,” he shared. “We’re not just saying that to say that. We actually are not yet throwing in the towel.”
He continued, “It’s very difficult to be in the public eye and have so much inquisition when you’re going through something tough.”
Kyle confessed that she was the one who initiated the separation during a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live.”
“[The split] originated from me,” she admitted, last month.
Mauricio and his “Dancing With the Stars” partner, Emma Slater, sparked romance rumors last month when they were spotted holding hands after sharing a dinner in Beverly Hills. Kyle admitted that she was “taken aback” by the photos, telling host, Andy Cohen, “I don’t know if anything’s happening yet, but obviously there’s something there and I love him very much and we are amicable, but that did hurt me.”
“I just don’t think you hold hands like that [if you’re friends],” she added.
Fans slammed the reality star on social media after her remarks, as many drew a parallel between Mauricio’s behavior and Kyle’s suspiciously close relationship with country music singer, Morgan Wade.
When Lisa, 63, was asked to weigh in on the rumor that Kyle had moved on with Morgan, she replied — “I don’t know if all these rumors about Morgan [are true].”
She added — “I don’t know unless I catch somebody in the middle of it. I don’t believe [it].”
Kyle and Morgan have been seen on multiple outings together and have openly flaunted matching rings and tattoos.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on Bravo.
