Kyle Richards Wanted ‘Freedom and Some Space’ from Mauricio So She Could Cheat In Peace With Her Girlfriend!
Kyle Richards spoke out about needing “freedom” from husband, Mauricio Umansky, in a preview of the upcoming episode of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
The sneak peek, which aired during Kyle’s Friday appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” featured the mom of four admitting to co-star, Dorit Kemsley, that she needed time apart from her husband of 27 years.
Dorit asked during a shared drive — “I mean, have you had any thoughts recently? Like do you think you would not end up with Mo?”
Kyle asked in response — “What makes you think this?”
Dorit pointed to an obvious shift in her friend’s Instagram account, explaining—“What makes me think this? Well, like even just from Instagram, you know, I usually see you and Mo together, and it just seemed like you were spending a lot of time away from each other.”
“I feel like I needed a little freedom — freedom and some space,” Kyle confirmed.
Kyle Richards told co-hosts, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, that she was not “not thrilled with the questions” from Dorit. She revealed that it was the first time she had seen the preview, adding— “I wasn’t ready to address that stuff.”
Kyle Richards explained that on “that particular day, I was really not happy.” She added— “I feel like you could definitely see that.”
Kyle and Mauricio wed in January 1996 and share three daughters, Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15. Kyle is also mom to Farrah Aldjufrie, 34.
In July, news broke that the Bravo star had split from the real estate mogul. The estranged couple denied that they were headed for divorce, only admitting that they had experienced a “rough year.”
Kyle gave fans an update on how she has navigated the separation, telling Kelly and Mark — “It’s been rough. This is unchartered territory for me. It’s been difficult. Fortunately, it was amicable. It’s hard. My main concern is our daughters, who’ve been amazing, my four best friends. It is hard.”
She said that life in the public eye had been tough because fans “feel like they want to know all the answers,” regarding the ins and outs of her marriage.
The 54-year-old added — “They also want to create their own story because we haven’t explained everything, which is impossible to do.”
Kyle shared that she had received messages that read, “All our hopes and dreams are crushed” and “True love doesn’t exist,” from disappointed fans.
Kelly jumped to her guest’s defense, telling viewers — “Let me just say this on your behalf: Grow up. It’s not about you.”
Mauricio, who is currently competing on “Dancing with the Stars,” spoke to People about the situation, describing the split as “a bit of a rough patch.”
“She and I are currently separated, but we are not throwing in the towel,” he shared. “We’re not just saying that to say that. We actually are not yet throwing in the towel.”
He continued. “It’s very difficult to be in the public eye and have so much inquisition when you’re going through something tough.”
The Buying Beverly Hills star added — “My wife is just being looked at so intensely and it’s really not fair. She’s just a person. She’s an amazing human, she’s my best friend and she does not deserve to be so judged of everything she does.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on Bravo.
