‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Ariana Madix Alludes to “Abusive” Relationship With Tom Sandoval
Ariana Madix took aim at her ex, Tom Sandoval, in a recent interview with Us Weekly.
The Vanderpump Rules star spoke to the outlet months after her boyfriend of nearly a decade was caught in an affair with her co-star and pal, Raquel Leviss. The discovery sparked a scandal that was later dubbed “Scandoval.”
Ariana, who is currently competing on “Dancing With the Stars,” shaded her ex as abusive while discussing her nine year relationship.
“This situation made me realize that I can do hard things,” Ariana said of the scandal, during the October 18 interview. “The worst-case scenario literally did happen, and I was OK. Like, look — you can handle what’s thrown at you.”
In March, Ariana stepped away from social media after news of the affair broke, in order to process her breakup and the end of her friendship with Leviss.
“I was off social media initially, so friends filled me in here and there. I was like, ‘This is crazy,’ but it was also happening in the midst of not eating and not sleeping. It was a weird juxtaposition of emotions and feelings,” she explained.
Ariana shared her thoughts on the show scoring a huge ratings bump in the wake of the exposed affair.
“I’m happy about that, but it’s also my real life. Sometimes that line is blurred, but of course, I want the show to do well,” she said.
Ariana landed partnerships with BIC, T-Mobile, and Bloomingdales, as well as a coveted spot on DWTS, after Season 10 brought in a massive wave of new viewers.
“I’m having the best time. If I could do rehearsals and performances every day for the rest of my life, I’d be happy. I find it so rewarding and fun,” Ariana said.
The reality star gushed over her current boyfriend, Daniel Wai, commenting — “It’s awesome. He’s incredibly supportive. He sacrifices his sleep and time to help me with anything I need, and then he takes a red-eye back and goes straight to work. He’ll clean up things that are left out and [does] little things you don’t really think about. When I come home from the show and everything’s clean and there’s food in the fridge that he made, it’s like, ‘Wow, that’s so nice.’”
She admitted that she was initially nervous about her new romance, which began only one month after her brutal breakup.
She confessed — “I’m nervous about everything all the time. It’s just part of my personality.”
She confirmed that her feelings toward Sandoval and Leviss remain unchanged before taking a shot at her ex.
“Don’t date abusive men who won’t let you shine and be on a TV show — because that’s what was going on and why I didn’t want to be on camera,” she declared.
Ariana added that she was able to grow amid the heartbreak and land in a much better place.
“I’ve grown up. I’m somebody who never really wanted to grow up. [But] over time, I’ve been able to love myself more and give myself a lot more grace when it comes to things we go through during filming. And that has allowed me to give others more grace,” she said.
