Heather Gay Claps Back at Mary Cosby Over Fat Shaming Her Size 14 Body
Heather Gay took to Instagram to respond to Mary Cosby’s recent criticism of her weight and fashion choice.
fstar subtly clapped back at Mary Cosby by showing her appreciation for the brand saying, “Thank you @gucci for being so inclusive. # RHOSLC.” Heather’s post featured her confidently donning the Gucci corset that had been under scrutiny by Mary during her recent stint on Watch What Happens Live.
The controversy was birthed during a playful segment called “Versace or Hibachi” hosted by Andy Cohen. When the game showcased a photo of Heather in the very corset, Mary was quick to comment, “I don’t think Gucci makes that.” Prodded by Andy Cohen about the authenticity of the attire, Mary asserted, “I do. I’ve never seen a corsquette [sic] in, like, a size 14. Have you?”
Despite the awkwardness that followed, Cohen made it clear he was a fan, noting that he “love[s] it.” Ziwe Fumudoh, 31, who was also on the show, couldn’t hide her disbelief, exclaiming a stern, “Mary Cosby!”
Mary, pastor of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church — a place some former members label a “cult” — remained unyielding, defending her statement as just her “opinion, even if it’s not right.”
On the other side, Heather’s Instagram post was met with an overwhelming show of support. Many of her fans and followers lauded her for the “stunning” choice, with many chiming in to call her “beautiful always — inside and out” and a “positive role model for all women.” Another user threw shade at Mary, alluding to her much-talked-about marital history: “Never take heat from someone who married their step grandfather.”
Interestingly, this isn’t the debut of Mary’s fashion critiques directed at Heather. In a prior episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, the two found themselves at a party hosted by fellow co-star, Lisa Barlow. Out of the blue, Mary loudly inquired about Heather’s necklace choice, asking, “What made you wear that necklace?”
Heather, defending her choice, remarked, “I love the necklace! I think it brings out the champagne of the coat. I think it adds some flare to the turtleneck. I have matching earrings! And I’m standing behind it.” Before Heather could further justify her choice, Mary, in a disapproving tone, cut her off: “You totally missed it on that one.”
Further heating things up for viewers, a clip from an upcoming episode revealed that Mary taking another dig at Heather, saying she looks “inbred.” Safe to say, the tension between these two isn’t dying down anytime soon.
