Mia Thornton and Gordon from ‘RHOP’ End Their 11-Year Marriage 

Mia Thornton and her spouse, Gordon Thornton, have ended their 11-year marriage.

“Like all marriages, ours has had its ups and downs,” The Real Housewives of Potomac star, 38, said in a statement to People on Friday, September 29. “At this time, Gordon and I are separated, but my family is my number one priority, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure we are okay. We ask that you respect our privacy and give us the time and space to figure things out.”

Mia and 70-year-old Gordon exchanged vows in March 2012, having first met in 2003. The couple has two kids together: 8-year-old son Jeremiah Carter and 6-year-old daughter Juliana. Additionally, each of them has a child from earlier relationships.

The challenges in Mia and Gordon’s marriage are set to feature prominently in RHOP’s season 8. The season’s trailer, released on Thursday, September 28, suggests the couple might be on the brink of divorce.

In the preview, Mia confesses to once seeking a divorce attorney during a tough period in their relationship. She also seems to hint to fellow cast member Ashley Darby that her decision to marry Gordon might have been influenced by his financial stability.

Prior to parting ways with Gordon, Mia faced a medical challenge. In February 2022, she garnered attention when she disclosed undergoing tests for potential cancer.

“Same time last week, Doc called at 7:31 am — Mia I’m so sorry but your test results came back and I need you to go to Johns Hopkins Cancer Center today for further evaluation,” she wrote via Instagram in February 2022. “You can only imagine the overwhelming amount of emotion G and I endured trying to figure out why. However, even with such terrible news, I felt an extreme amount of peace and energy instilled that allowed me to remain strong.”

Back then, Mia didn’t specify the type of cancer she was potentially dealing with, but mentioned that she was consulting with specialists “on a daily basis” to decide on her course of treatment.

During the seventh season of RHOP, Mia’s health status and her posts on social media became a central discussion point. Several of her fellow cast members, including Gizelle Bryant, raised doubts about the authenticity of Mia’s assertions.

In October 2022, Gizelle Bryant, aged 53, along with Robyn Dixon, gave an exclusive interview to Us Weekly, shedding light on why they questioned the gravity of Mia’s health concerns.

“My first reaction when I saw the post was like, ‘Oh, my God, what’s going on? I hope she’s OK.’ And then I had a ‘wait a minute’ moment, like, ‘Why is she saying all this on Instagram, like, why is she telling this to, you know, hundreds of thousands of strangers?’” Dixon, 44, told Us at the time “I thought it was odd to share that type of information so prematurely because it definitely caused an emotional reaction in me and I’m like, ‘I couldn’t imagine, like, why you would share this with on a platform like this?’ I definitely had my thoughts.”
