‘Teen Mom’ Alum Jenelle Evans’ Son Jace Runs Away from Home for 3rd Time
Jenelle Evans, best known for her time on Teen Mom, is facing another family crisis. Her eldest son, Jace Evans, has ran away for the third time.
This continuing pattern raises concerns about the teenager’s well-being and the circumstances that might be causing these episodes. The reality TV alum has yet to make an official statement regarding this recent development.
On the evening of September 28, police officers responded to Jenelle’s home after receiving a report that her 14-year-old had gone missing.
According to sources at TMZ, Jenelle Evans, 31, informed the officers that Jace had covertly exited the house through a window. She also expressed concerns about his safety, noting that he didn’t have his cell phone with him when he left. This incident adds another layer to the ongoing challenges faced by the reality star and her family.
Authorities have escalated the search for Jace after he snuck out of his home. As a concerning step in the search effort, Jace has been entered into a nationwide missing persons database.
Jace has had previous incidents of running away. The Brunswick Co. Sheriff’s Department first took note of his disappearance on August 15, when he left school at around 2:45 p.m. In that instance, the teenager was later found “in the trees behind the school building,” thanks to his location being shared on Snapchat. The recent occurrence brings renewed concern for Jace’s well-being while in his mother’s care.
In a span of two weeks, the Evans family faced another distressing episode. On August 28, Jenelle grew increasingly anxious when she hadn’t heard from Jace for an extended period. She promptly reached out to the police. Fortunately, Jace was soon discovered at a gas station, a mere 10 minutes from the residence where Jenelle, her children, and her husband, David Eason, reside.
“Jenelle is a momma bear raising a teenage boy. Jace likes exploring his extensive property that has woods, lakes,” the former MTV star’s manager, August Keen, said in a statement to In Touch following Jace’s second disappearance. “He decided to explore too far. Jenelle got worried and called the police after he didn’t come back before it became dark.”
Jenelle hinted at potential concerns regarding her son’s Snapchat activity, though she refrained from going into detail about the exact nature of the content she discovered. “I will say one thing: Monitor your kids’ phones,” she told her followers. “Because, you know, I monitor my kid’s phone, and sometimes they get in trouble. Sometimes they get it taken away for consequences to their actions, right?”
“But sometimes they don’t take that too lightly and sometimes kids get really mad about their phones if you take them away,” Jenelle continued. She then stated that many teens are dependent on their phones and even compared it to an “addiction.”
Jenelle further elaborated on the ongoing struggles, emphasizing that Jace has been grappling with challenges for the past two to three years. She referenced a significant reason behind her mother, Barbara Evans, deciding to return full custody of Jace to her earlier in March. In her statement, Jenelle highlighted their collective effort to maintain Jace’s privacy amidst the challenges, saying, “None of this has gone public because we’re trying to keep his privacy — me and my mom.”
Jenelle held back when discussing the details of her “son’s mental health.” However, she reassured everyone by stating, “he is fine, he’s healthy and he’s safe.”
Besides Jace, the former Teen Mom 2 star, is also a mother to son Kaiser, whom she shares with her ex, Nathan Griffith, and daughter Ensley with her husband, David.
