Shannon Beador Under Investigation by Animal Control For Driving Drunk with Her Dog In the Car
Shannon Beador faces continued scrutiny after her DUI arrest last weekend.
Page Six has learned that following The Real Housewives of Orange County star’s arrest, she’s now under investigation by Newport Beach Police Department’s animal control unit because she had her beloved dog, Archie, in the car during the incident.
A public information officer from the Newport Beach Police Department confirmed to us on Friday, stating that their top animal control officer is “currently reviewing the situation.
“We don’t have animal endangering laws like you would with children but we do have animal cruelty laws, so he’s going to look into that a little bit further,” Sgt. Steve Oberon adds.
Per a police report, Shannon, under the influence on Saturday evening, sideswiped a neighboring residence, resulting in concrete fragments and other wreckage at the scene.
Insiders earlier informed TMZ that the 59-year-old Bravolebrity subsequently parked her vehicle and feigned taking her dog for a stroll before officers approached her.
Oberon has since informed the outlet that Shannon asked for Archie to be “left at a friend’s place for care while she addressed her predicament.
The officer pointed out that the cherished golden retriever seemed unharmed, so no medical attention was sought. Consequently, law enforcement complied with the owner’s request.
Oberon did not disclose who Shannon designated to care for Archie during her time in police custody. Attempts by Page Six to reach her representative for comment went unanswered at this time.
Yet, an insider exclusively told the gossip rag that Archie was brought to the home of Shannon’s former flame, John Janssen, on that Saturday evening.
Shannon appears to be seeking solace from her ex-boyfriend after her arrest. Witnesses spotted the duo entering an apartment in Newport Beach, Calif., this past Tuesday.
The reality personality, whom close friend Jeff Lewis claims feels deeply “embarrassed,” by the entire situation, was observed with what appeared to be her arm in a sling during the sighting.”
A snitch of Shannon also revealed to Page Six that, “Shannon has not been contacted by animal control” and that “Archie is fine and is currently with Shannon.”
Oberon, on his end, emphasized that he anticipates the investigation to wrap up swiftly, “if there’s not an injury, [the case] stops there.”
“[The dog] was never taken from her as far as custody [goes],” the officer concludes.
Shannon and Archie are no strangers to tough situations. In October 2021, the dog went missing, leading to a highly emotional period for the mom of three.
In her distress, Shannon turned to her social media community, issuing a heartfelt plea on Instagram, expressing, “So it is past 4 o’clock in the morning, and Archie somehow, someway is missing.”
“I don’t know what happened, but I’m yelling his name every two seconds for the last five hours, so if anyone here in Port Streets [Orange County] has seen my dog, we’re devastated.”
The very next day, Shannon joyfully updated her Instagram followers, announcing that Archie had safely made his way back home.
“Thank you to everyone that helped me throughout the night and especially to my neighbor who took him in and kept him safe!” she wrote on Instagram on Nov. 1, 2021. “Grateful beyond…”
Fast forward almost two years, and it seems Shannon is poised to make pivotal changes in her life and assume greater responsibility.
According to Shannon’s pal, Jeff Lewis, she’s exploring treatment facilities to address her alcohol consumption.
In a statement to Page Six earlier this week, Shannon Beador’s attorney, Mike Fell, stated:
“She is extremely apologetic and remorseful. We will be awaiting the official information on this case as it becomes available, and Shannon is prepared to accept full responsibility for her actions.”
