Kroy Biermann Desperately Pleads with Kim Zolciak to Sell Their $3 Million Mansion Amid Financial Crisis
Kroy Biermann is begging his estranged wife, Kim Zolciak, to agree to sell their Georgia mansion ASAP, to free them from their massive debt.
The former NFL star’s lawyer, Marlys A. Bergstrom, spoke out about the situation to Us Weekly, confirming that his client is pleading with the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum to sign a joint consent agreement to put the home on the market. The attorney stated that selling their Atlanta property would enable them to clear their debt.
Kroy Biermann, 37, filed for divorce from the former reality star in May, then refiled in August after a short reconciliation. He also requested an emergency hearing to ensure that the house hits the market right away.
“If the court orders it then the court can enforce the order. It is taking control out of the hands of the parties,” Bergstrom told Us at the time. “And this is exactly what needs to be done at this point.”
Kim told TMZ the next day that selling the family home had been a “mutual” decision, claiming that she had “told him what to do.”
The estranged couple faced foreclosure back in February, but the auction was canceled one month later. Kim and Kroy are now facing the same potential predicament amid a serious financial crisis.
Kroy and Kim both filed for divorce in May. The double divorce petitions kicked off a string of accusations from both sides, with Kim calling out Kroy for alleged drug use and Kroy accusing Kim of having an account-draining gambling addiction. Kim shares four children with the former Atlanta Falcons linebacker, Kroy Jr., 11, and Kash, 10, and 9 year-old twins Kaia and Kane. Kroy adopted Kim’s adult daughters, Brielle, 26, and Ariana, 21, after their 2011 nuptials.
Kim and Kroy walked back their original May divorce filings in July, but sources told Radar Online that the couple’s attempt to work out their marital woes did not work.
The duo has been at odds over who’s to blame for their desperate financial situation, which includes owing $1.1 million in back taxes.
“They’re getting along, so [Kim] called it off,” an insider told Us at the time. “Tomorrow might be different.”
“People knew it wouldn’t last,” a second source said. “In the end, it was all about fights and finances.”
Kroy filed for divorce a second time only weeks after their July reconciliation.
Last month, attorney, Neama Rahmani, who has no connection to the messy divorce, told Us that he was shocked that the pair hadn’t filed for bankruptcy.
“I’m really surprised at how they’ve handled this, both in terms of the family side and the potential bankruptcy,” the lawyer told Us Weekly. “It seems like these two need to separate, need to file for bankruptcy, really start their life over — both their personal and professional life, because everything just seems like a mess right now.”
