‘Sister Wives’ Comes To An END! Source Says Family’s Saga Wraps Up After Numerous Breakups

It looks like Season 18 might be the end of the road for long-running TLC series, Sister Wives.

The premiere episode joined Kody Brown in the wake of his third wife, Christine’s exit, but prior to the departures of his first and second wives, Meri and Janelle Brown.

Kody Brown

Christine’s spinoff web series, “Cooking With Just Christine, aired on YouTube the same day as Sunday’s season premiere. A source told the U.S. Sun that the network was assessing fan interest in a spinoff show starring only Christine and her favorite sister wife, Janelle.

“TLC wants to see if people truly want to have a spinoff series on Christine and Janelle,” the insider said.

The source added — “If that’s the case, then it’s practically guaranteed that this will be the last season of Sister Wives.

The source pointed out that the show could continue if Kody recruited a new wife to keep his polygamous lifestyle afloat.

The tipster said — “If he can find a new wife and keep his story going, there will be more Sister Wives seasons.”

The source alleged — “If not, it’s going to come to an end and there will be a spinoff – or spinoffs – and the family will move on with their next adventure.”

Kody has yet to express interest in seeking another wife.

“The idea of ever marrying again after the experience I’ve had, there’s no reason for me to do that,” Kody explained in the latest issue of People. “I feel like I’ve hit the bottom of a deep swimming pool, but I’ve pushed off and am headed to the surface.”

Sister Wives

The very first episode of Sister Wives premiered on September 26, 2010.

Christine announced her split from the patriarch in November 2021, and Janelle followed in her footsteps a year later, in December 2022.

Rumors of a potential spinoff project began to circulate earlier this year. In February, the outlet reported that a show was in development.

A source described the concept as one focused on “life after polygamy” and “female empowerment.” Some of Christine and Janelle’s children were  reportedly “on board and all for it” at the time.

An insider recently dished that Janelle’s recent participation in “Cooking with Just Christine” was staged to provide a “leeway to their new show.”

“This is the leeway to their new show that’s going to be probably coming out by next summer,” a source spilled.

The snitch dished — “This is all planned by the network. They’re going to be focusing on Christine and Janelle because after all they’ve been through, they came out winning and still have each other and a lasting friendship.”

“TLC wants to show fans that they are superwomen who are starting their lives over after being in a polygamous relationship for nearly 30 years.”

Janelle Brown

Christine, 51, and Janelle, 54, were also featured on this week’s People magazine cover, while other cast members were highlighted in a multi-page feature story.

Sister Wives airs Sundays, at 10 pm ET, on TLC.
