In the video below, Whitney gives details of the accident, accompanied by images from the crash that underscored the gravity of the situation. She shared, “Over the weekend I got one of those calls that you never want to get. My dad had been in a wreck. Luckily, he was just a few minutes away from my house so I was able to get there quickly,” She added, ““He’d been trying to cross an intersection when a driver coming the opposite way ran a red light and slammed into him. That driver and his passenger are fine, they were just really shaken up.”

Whitney added, “My dad thought that he broke his ribs, so we headed over to the ER where we were there for a very short six hours. And he had X-rays, and scans, and a CAT scan, and it determined that he didn’t break his ribs, but he does have a broken bone in his ankle. And he’s got a very large hematoma on his leg.”

Whitney Way Thore announced the passing of her mother, Barbara Thore, at the age of 76, on December 7, 2022. The reality TV personality revealed that the cause of her mother’s death was cerebral amyloid angiopathy.

“Rest In Peace, Sweet Mommy. June 22, 1946—December 7, 2022,” the No BS Active founder captioned a post. “My mother died last night just as the credits rolled on her favorite movie. Dad, Hunter, and I held her as she took her last breaths. It was 10:32pm, the same exact time she brought me into this world almost forty years ago.”

Someone else shared, “God is looking out for your dad. Can I hear an Amen 🙏🏻 thank you God for protecting this man and the other passengers that ran the red light! Hopefully they will not ever do that again! I can’t say I never have done that. However, it’s not a good idea nonetheless. I am very happy your father is doing well.”
