Season 11 of ‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’: Whitney’s Emotional Tribute to Her Mother and Discovery of Her Half-Sister
Whitney Way Thore will adjust to life without her beloved mother on the upcoming season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life.
The newly released trailer features Whitney and her family memorializing Barbara “Babs” Thore, who died in December 2022 of cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Whitney described the ailment as “an untreatable progressive condition caused by proteins in the blood vessels of the brain that can cause dementia, seizures, or like in my mom’s case, brain bleeding (hemorrhagic strokes)” on Instagram, at the time.
Whitney Way Thore’s father, Glenn Thore, struggles to cope with his wife’s passing in the emotional preview.
“When I stand around this kitchen table, it just brings back all these memories with your mom,” he says.
“He’s just lost,” Whitney tells her brother, Hunter. “He said, ‘I don’t wanna do anything without your mother.’”
Hunter replies — “We just have to change that attitude.”
Whitney Way Thore, 39, and Hunter decide to create a bucket list of adventures to lift Glenn’s spirits, which includes getting a tattoo, experiencing indoor skydiving and reconnecting with his “long-lost daughter.”
The family jets to Switzerland where they visit a glacier before Whitney is forced to deal with an altitude related health crisis that stops the group in their tracks.
“You can be in real danger,” Glenn remarks. “I don’t wanna lose you and your mom.”
Later in the preview, Whitney dives back into the dating pool after her ex, Lennie, starts a relationship with a new love interest.
“I make out with an ex and then they immediately find themselves in a happy and successful relationship,” Whitney tells cameras. “It would be nice if I could have the same.”
Whitney describes her return to the dating apps as “abysmal,” especially after she runs across Hunter’s dating profile.
