Cynthia Bailey SHADES NeNe Leakes Amid Accusations of Playing a Role in ‘RHOA’ Alum’s Exit
Cynthia Bailey is speaking out, after NeNe Leakes claimed that her former Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star had schemed with her cast mates to have her axed from the Bravo show.
NeNe took aim at the model during her recent interview with former RHOA producer, Carlos King, during which she claimed that Cynthia scored a peach only because of her future husband, Peter Thomas.
NeNe explained that producers asked her to meet Cynthia ahead of Season 3, in order to transition her into the group.
“The only supermodels I had heard of was Naomi [Campbell] and Tyra [Banks] and maybe a couple of other Black girls…” NeNe continued. “But I had never heard of Cynthia.”
NeNe shared that the pair hit if off during their initial meeting, but noted that she did not see a budding reality star.
“I felt like she was a little nervous. I didn’t think that she was Housewives material, just being honest.” NeNe continued. “I was like, ‘You know she’s a little quiet, she’s a little this … I don’t know that she is the one that you guys are looking for.’”
NeNe explained that her opinion changed when she first encountered Cynthia’s then-boyfriend, Peter Thomas, whom she described as “loud” and “aggressive.”
She recalled — “I was like, ‘Oh my god. This is her guy?’ I got why they like Cynthia because Peter was extra.’”
The Bravo alum told King — “I feel like definitely the Cynthia that’s not on camera has the strength, and she’s vocal enough to be on the show for sure without Peter. But on camera, I felt like she never really wanted to show that side of her.”
Cynthia shrugged off NeNe’s biting remarks during a recent appearance on Kandi Burruss’ YouTube podcast, “Speak On It,” and encouraged her ex bestie to get back on television.
Cynthia said — “If she did in fact build the Housewives of Atlanta, then hey, hell, she can build another house on another network, right? If you can build one house, you can build two.” In this economy? Get back on TV, go ahead and build that second house!”
She added — “Because that’s what you do. You’re that girl, you’re super talented. So, hey, if you can’t come back to Housewives, build another house … Come on, get back on TV!”
Fans offered Cynthia words of support for taking the high road, with one person commenting — “The way Cynthia easily laughed and brushed off the allegations unbothered, and yet is able to rise above it and still gave Nene the credit where it’s due, is so commendable.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays, at 8 pm ET, on Bravo.
