Lenny Hochstein Settles BOTCHED Lawsuit For Permanently Disfiguring Patient
Lenny Hochstein has settled a legal case involving a patient who accused the plastic surgeon of behaving in a careless manner during a surgical procedure.
The soon-to-be ex-husband of Real Housewives of Miami star, Lisa Hochstein, struck a deal with a woman named Luz Del Alba Soto, according to court documents obtained by Radar Online.
Soto filed a lawsuit against the surgeon and his medical practice in 2021, alleging that Hochstein had been negligent while performing a procedure the previous year. Soto claimed that in May 2020, Hochstein performed a thigh lift and an arm lift that required a liposuction procedure. Soto alleged that she experienced health issues following the surgery.
Soto alleged that her complications included — “significant dehiscence of her surgical incisions, large open wounds on both axillas, large open wounds on both groins, gaping of the vaginal introitus with leg abduction, constant exquisite pain, infection, and decreasing upper extremity function and frequent re-opening of the wounds.”
Soto claimed at the time of the filing that she “currently suffers from and will continue to suffer from, for the entirety of her life, severe cosmetic disfiguration, and functional impairment, which has already required further surgery to correct the mistakes made in Dr. Hochstein’s procedure.”
The lawsuit stated that in January 2021, Soto underwent a reconstructive procedure at Massachusetts General Hospital. She said that if Hochstein’s care had “been within the requisite standard of care, she would have continued to lead a more productive life as she intended.”
Soto added that prior to her “mismanaged and carelessly performed plastic surgery procedure, she was employed,” but that the additional procedure required her to take time away from work. She was demanding damages for loss of employment, physical impairment, disfigurement and pain and suffering.
She accused Lenny Hochstein and his team of failing to determine that she was not a good candidate for the procedure due to her minimum skin laxity. Soto also claimed that the Miami-based surgeon removed an excess amount of skin and was overly aggressive in determining the degree of liposuction. She added that Hochstein and his staff did not provide adequate post-op care.
Hochstein responded to the suit by denying all allegations of wrongdoing, arguing that Soto had been informed of all risks ahead of her surgery.
Both sides informed the court that they had reached a settlement and that the lawsuit had been dropped, on June 13, 2023.
Hochstein was embroiled in a bitter divorce war with his estranged wife before the pair struck a settlement deal in June.
The ex-couple remains legally married, but that didn’t stop Lenny Hochstein from proposing to his girlfriend, model, Katharina Mazepa.
Lisa, 41, reacted by throwing some pointed shade at the happy couple on her Instagram Story, writing—“Congrats to my current husband and his mistress on their engagement.”
