Lilly Jay dissed Ariana Grande as “not a girl’s girl” amid reports of her estranged husband, Ethan Slater’s new relationship with his “Wicked” co-star.
“[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl,” Lilly told Page Six after news broke of her ex’s new romance. “My family is just collateral damage.”
The musician noted that she planned to focus on being a “good mom” while raising the child she shares with the Broadway star.
“The story is her and Dalton,” Lilly added, referring to the “7 Rings” singer’s split from her husband of two years, Dalton Gomez.
Insiders told the outlet that Lilly’s behavior has not aligned with her attitude toward her ex, as she’s called “every news outlet to get this story out.”
“She’s telling Ethan and others that she only cares about protecting their child,” the source said, adding that there was nothing amoral about Ariana and Ethan’s budding romance.
“She’s rightfully upset because her marriage fell apart, but Ariana and Ethan didn’t do anything wrong,” the tipster said.
The source noted that Ethan, 31, had been separated from Lilly for two months before starting his relationship with Ariana.
“Ethan is trying to take the high road and hopes he can resolve this situation for the sake of their child,” the source said.
Ethan filed for divorce from Lilly on Wednesday in a NYC court. The pair had been married for almost four years.
The “SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical” star’s decision to split from his wife came a week after his romantic relationship with Ariana, 30, was revealed.
Ariana and Ethan began dating two months ago, after they had both separated from their respective spouses.
A source told the outlet that Ariana and her ex remain on good terms despite their breakup.
“They’ve been really good friends throughout the entire process, and their friends and families have been trying to protect them,” the insider said, adding that Gomez even hopped a plane to London to intercept the filming of “Wicked” in an eleventh-hour effort to save his marriage.
A “Wicked” cast photo that marked Michelle Yeoh’s March Oscar win revealed Ethan sitting with his arm around Ariana. The photo exploded on social media after the romance bombshell hit the press.
Separate sources told the site that Lilly was “blindsided” by her ex’s romance with the pop star.
“It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck,” they said.
The source said that they believed that Lilly and Ethan split due to his relationship with the “Thank U, Next” artist, because their marriage ended “suddenly” when “nothing appeared wrong between them.”
