Whoopi Goldberg Waves Finger and Calls Out The View Co-host for ‘Misleading’ Comments About Joy Behar

Whoopi Goldberg took aim at Ana Navarro after the host commented that co-host, Joy Behar, had previously been fired from “The View.” Ana made her claim during a tribute to late show co-creator, Bill Geddie.

Bill Geddie passed away last Thursday at the age of 68. Ana referenced Joy, who was absent from the special episode, sharing that her co-host admired Geddie despite their past disagreements.

Ana commented — “Bill hired Joy and fired Joy, yet she still loves him.”

Whoopi Goldberg interjected — “He didn’t – he didn’t fire Joy.

She reiterated — “No, he did not.”

Sunny Hostin tried to lighten the mood, reminding the women that Geddie had been planning “the next iteration” of “The View.”

Joy has acknowledged that she was axed from “The View” back in 2013. Years later, she told Time magazine that she was “glad” that it happened.

“I was glad to be fired,” Joy told the mag. “I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why.”

Ramin Setoodeh told Time that Joy took the news of her dismissal well. The author of “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View” noted that Joy, an original panelist, offered to leave the day she received the news.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who was let go around the same time, was a different story as she reportedly burst out crying at the news.

Joy frequently filled in for the show’s creator, Barbara Walters, who also served as a panelist, and went on to become a permanent fixture on the series. She continued to appear as a guest host in the years following her firing, confirming that she remained on friendly terms with the top brass.

Ratings began to decline after Joy’s departure, prompting a decision to hire new producers amid former President Donald Trump’s presidential run.

Whoopi made headlines back in May after she reportedly pushed for a raise despite having two years remaining on her current contract.

Whoopi came to this job with a bigger name than anyone,” a source told Radar Online. “She’s got real star power.”

Whoopi supposedly concluded that if she negotiated for more money, that would give her co-stars leverage to do the same.

“It raises the bar and sets a precedent for her coworkers,” the insider explained. “If they’re savvy, they’ll use her high salary as a way to bargain for bigger paydays for themselves.”

Joy did not agree with Whoopi’s logic, according to the report.

Joy brings in a reported $7 million a year to Whoopi’s $8 million, leaving the 80-year-old purportedly frustrated over her co-star’s push for more money.

The snitch dished — “She wants parity with Whoopi and thinks she deserves it.”

Joy allegedly believed that “the more Whoopi takes, the less there is for everyone else,” per the insider.
