Honey Boo Boo Plans To Shack Up with Boyfriend While Attending College In Denver
Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson is heading off to college where she plans to move in with boyfriend, Dralin Carswell.
The 17-year-old spoke to ET about taking the next step with her boyfriend, during an interview about her family’s reality series, “Mama June: From Hot to Not.” Alana confirmed that she will live off campus with Dralin, 21, as she studies nursing at Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
“I’ll be moving off campus for security reasons and because Dralin is coming with me,” Alana told the outlet.
The reality TV teen revealed that it wasn’t hard to convince her boyfriend to move to Denver.
“I think he’s more excited to move there than me. He’s ready to move out of our small town and experience something new too,” she said.
Alana, who turns 18 in August, has been dating Dralin for almost three years.
“I think it’ll be good for us honestly and I mean, I think it will be fun,” Alana said. “Even though I’m moving halfway across the country, it’ll be good for me.”
While Alana is excited for college, she declared that she had no interest in joining a sorority.
“I don’t want to be part of a sorority because — and don’t hound me for saying this — all sorority girls are stuck up!” she shared. “That’s not me. I’m not a Chanel bag type of girl. I’m gonna do my studies and graduate in 2029.”
Alana shared that she and Dralin had discussed their future together but were not on the same page when it comes to having children.
“I can’t say that because I don’t know what life holds, but I hope,” she said, when asked if marriage could be in the couple’s future.
“I don’t want kids and he does,” Alana said. “I’d like to stay in Colorado long enough to work in nursing after school.”
Alana confirmed that Dralin earns a paycheck for appearing alongside her family in the WeTV series.
Alana’s mother, June Shannon, and sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, shared their support for Alana and Dralin’s plan during the interview.
“You don’t truly know somebody until you move in with somebody,” Lauryn declared.
June chimed in — “I told her it’s either gonna make or break her and Dralin,” before reassuring her daughter that she “can always come back home if she doesn’t like it.”
“All that matters to me is that Dralin treats Alana right, he’s respectful, my kids love him, his family is great — that’s all that matters to me,” Lauryn said.
Alana acknowledged that TV cameras will likely be in the mix as she moves on to the next phase of her life.
“Yeah, I have been on TV my whole life and I kind of just basically accepted that whether I want to go be a nurse or I want to go be an accountant, whatever I want to go be, that I will always be in the spotlight,” the teenager explained. “It doesn’t matter what I do, I will always probably be known as, ‘Oh my god, Honey Boo Boo’s working on my baby when he was in the NICU.'”
