Ariana Madix Stands by Scheana Shay Amid Controversy Over Picture with Cheating Ex Tom Sandoval
Ariana Madix took to social media to defend her pal, Scheana Shay, after fans blasted the Vanderpump Rules star as “fake,” for spending time with Tom Sandoval.
“@scheana is an amazing friend who took a photo with a fan for their birthday,” Sandoval’s ex wrote via her Instagram Stories on Friday.
Ariana Madix added — “..there’s been so many mean comments towards her for it and she was just doing something nice.”
The 38-year-old reminded the public that she and co-stars “always try to stop for photos” during encounters with fans. She added that snapping pics together is the norm, even amid cast drama.
Ariana Madix addressed the situation after fans ripped into Shay for appearing to be on friendly terms with Sandoval, 41, during a cast trip to Lake Tahoe.
Shay also took heat for posting a video in which the cover band frontman could be heard speaking in the background.
A fan asked — “Is that Sandoval’s voice??? All is forgiven, I guess #pumprules,” pointing to Sandoval’s affair with Raquel Leviss, which exploded toward the end of the most recently aired season.
Another person chimed in — “Most definitely is S–SandwichSandoval, the group sounds rather comfortable kinda like nothing has happen.”
A third added — “So everyone is hanging out with Sandoval? Because I can hear James, pretty sure Ally walking next to Lala. They are all in Lake Tahoe.”
One Twitter user wrote — “this gonna piss me off if they’re all gonna be kumbaya after that whole reunion.”
Another tweeted — “And if all is forgiven, I won’t be watching ‘Vanderpump Rules.’”
Pump Rules star, Lala Kent, informed “stupid” naysayers that she and Shay along with cast mates, Brock Davies, James Kennedy, Ally Lewber and Tom Schwartz, posed for a group shot with Sandoval for a fan’s birthday.
“What are we gonna be like, ‘No. Absolutely not.’ Like, no, ‘Happy birthday, let’s take a f–king picture,’” she said. “It’s called adulting.”
Shay, 38, added — “We’re in a group. We’re all here. We hopped in a photo. You know what? I happened to be standing where I was standing.”
The cast reportedly made a truce to keep the peace while checking out Lisa Vanderpump’s new restaurant, during the lake getaway.
“Just because the cast is in the same vicinity doesn’t mean that they are getting along,” the source told Page Six Wednesday. “They are there to support Lisa’s new restaurant and are honoring her request that temperatures be lowered at the moment.”
Brock Davies weighed in on the drama Friday, putting out a statement via his Instagram Stories.
“It’s hard not to reflect on the duality of public life. Love and support on one side, and hurtful comments on the other — particularly about my wife. It stings, it’s personal,” Davies said. “Remember this — Vanderpump Rules is about real people, real friendships and real emotions spanning over 15 years. This isn’t just entertainment, it’s a part of our lives you’ve come to appreciate.”
“We’re not just here for the photo ops. We’re here living our lives, sharing our journey,” he added. “It’s high time we promote respect and empathy, not just for the ‘characters’ you see on screen, but for the real people behind them. Let’s make this community as real as the friendships you tune in for. Let’s make it better.”
