Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann Call off Their Divorce … Can’t Afford Legal Bills!
Kim Zolciak and husband, Kroy Biermann have called off their divorce. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum and the former Atlanta Falcons linebacker have both dismissed their divorce petitions.
Kim, 45, filed papers on July 7, requesting that the case be dismissed “without prejudice,” according to court documents obtained by Page Six. Kroy’s attorney, Marlys A. Bergstrom, told E! News that “the parties are dismissing their divorce action and attempting a reconciliation.”
The former reality TV couple was snapped walking to church with their four biological children — Kroy, 12, Kash, 10 and 9-year-old twins, Kaia and Kane — only days before deciding to drop their divorce and give their marriage another shot.
“They’ve been working on things,” an insider told Page Six. “They’ve been talking more lately and getting along, so she decided to call it off.”
The couple filed for divorce in May, and both asked the court for primary custody of the four kids along with child and spousal support. The ex NFL player adopted Kim’s two children, Brielle, 26, and her sister, Ariana, 21, after the couple tied the knot, in 2011. The newlyweds went on to star in Bravo spinoff series, “Don’t Be Tardy,” which ran for eight seasons.
A week later, Kim filed a motion asking that Kroy be required to undergo drug testing. She claimed that she had witnessed her husband “smoking marijuana, and she has serious concerns for the safety and well-being of their children,” while under his care.
Kroy, 38, filed a request to have Kim psychologically evaluated, claiming that her gambling problem had left her “unable to properly care for the children.”
Kroy later filed paperwork to have Kim tossed from their Atlanta mansion, as the pair continued to live together under the same roof. In May, Page Six reported that the ex NFL player and the former Bravo star had been “avoiding each other” while living together in their Georgia mansion. Kroy initially requested ownership of the house amid Kim’s assertion that she had no intention of moving out, as the pair seemingly sparred over who would be allowed to stay in the family home.
TMZ reported that the couple owed the IRS more that $1 million in unpaid taxes just before news of their impending divorce exploded in the press. Bravo exec, Andy Cohen, shared his thoughts on the split during a May episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live.
“[I] sent my condolences, because it’s a sad thing. They have kids, and that was just a couple that seemed very much in love,” the “Watch What Happens Live” host said, at the time. “I was very surprised. That was not the news I ever expected to get. They were a couple that I thought they were in it for the long haul. [I was] very surprised [and I am] sorry to hear that.”
