In a poignant and heartfelt moment, the 17-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson couldn’t hold back her tears during a family therapy session. The emotional outpouring occurred as they confronted the challenges and strain in their mother-daughter relationship, as depicted in the latest episode of Mama June: Family Crisis.

“I just feel like my mom should be there on graduation, and I feel like she should be there for my prom and she should be there for the little moments in school … just the little senior activities I have,” Alana said while crying.

Honey Boo Boo, who is currently under the sole custody of her sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, bravely opened up about her feelings of being left out among her peers. The former Toddlers & Tiaras star shared that she often feels a sense of exclusion as her classmates have their mothers to rely on for support and guidance.

“Everybody in school is like, ‘My mom, my mom, my mom,’ and I always have to say, ‘My sister.’ I don’t want to have to say that,” she added.

Prompted by the therapist to provide comfort, June responds by tenderly embracing her youngest daughter, cradling the head of the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star against her shoulder.

“This is the first time Mama’s actually really gave me a hug in probably about five or six years,” Alana revealed in a confessional. “It feels good to get an actual loving hug from your mama. It really did feel nice, I’m not gonna lie.”

The touching footage capturing the tender moment was unveiled approximately a month following June’s, 43, proud presence and support as she cheered on Honey Boo Boo during her high school graduation in May.

“I’m so proud of her she is our 2023 graduate and yes we was hollering the whole time WTG LANA,” the Mama June: From Not to Hot alum captioned an Instagram video of her teenager walking to accept her diploma.

“AND YALL KNOW I SCREAMED WORK IT SMOOCHIE ONE LAST TIME,” she nostalgically recalled the phrase she would often shout during Alana’s performances on Toddlers & Tiaras, reflecting on those memorable moments from the beauty pageants.

Lauryn, 23, took to Instagram to extend her heartfelt congratulations to her younger sister, expressing her amazement at witnessing her growth, acknowledging the beauty of her soul, and emphasizing the remarkable progress she has made despite facing numerous challenges along the way.

Alana, who had been residing with Lauryn since their mother’s arrest for drug possession and paraphernalia in 2019, found herself contemplating whether to invite June to the ceremony. The decision of whether or not to extend the invitation became a subject of internal debate for Alana.

“I think I’m at the age where I’m not like sitting there like, ‘Oh, I just wish my mommy was coming home.’ Like Mama is gonna do what Mama is going to do,’” during a 2022 episode of Mama June: Road to Redemption, the former beauty pageant queen made the statement, reflecting on her past experiences and journey.

“Every time with her it’s like you get your hopes up … like, I’m going to graduate soon, should I even invite you to my graduation because, like, are you even gonna come?”
