‘The View’ Star Alyssa Farah Griffin Claps Back at Former Boss Donald Trump: ‘We Have No Obligation to Him”
Alyssa Farah Griffin didn’t hold back, after former president, Donald Trump, took a swing at her during a recent interview on Fox News. The View co-host fired back at her former boss during a later appearance on CNN.
Trump recently sat down with Fox News anchor, Brett Baier, and was asked to address the pattern of former staffers flipping on the controversial ex-president.
Griffin appeared on Anderson Cooper’s AC360 on Tuesday night, and was asked to comment on Trump’s remarks during the interview. Cooper noted that Griffin’s “name came up” during the Fox News sit-down, before playing the clip of Trump’s comments about the chat show host.
“Something happens” Trump told Baier. “When people leave, they can like me very much.”
“I have this woman named Alyssa Farah. She said the greatest things long after she left. ‘He’s the greatest president we’ve ever had. He’s unbelievable, unbelievable,'” Trump went on. “Then The View offered her a contract, but obviously only if she changed her views and all of a sudden she can say negative things.”
Griffin addressed Trump’s comments by explaining a “simple fact pattern” relating to Trump’s actions on January 6, which ultimately led to her decision to resign.
“Just as a simple fact pattern. I was on Fox News on Jan. 7 – the day after Jan. 6 – 2021, where I denounced him and said he was unfit for office and should resign,” Griffin told Cooper. “And I’ve done that every day since.”
Griffin was asked to address Trump’s implication that her decision was helped along by a hefty paycheck from The View. She noted that his timeline was not accurate.
The daytime personality pointed out that she “didn’t join The View until nearly two years” after she left the Trump administration.
“But Donald Trump doesn’t seem to understand that those of us who served in his administration, we swore an oath to the Constitution,” Griffin said. “We did not swear an oath of loyalty to Donald Trump.”
She added — “I would never swear one to any politician and I think he needs to realize we don’t owe him anything.”
Griffin made headlines back in March, after verbally sparring with The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg.
Goldberg told her co-star to “hold up” as they hashed out a political joke involving Mike Pence. The panel was engaged in a debate over whether it was appropriate for the former Vice President to call out Pete Buttigieg’s paternity leave, when things took a turn.
“To me, this was a joke that did not land,” Griffin said, but Goldberg called the joke “lazy” and “stale.”
Goldberg ordered Griffin to “hold up” after her co-host pressed her to not “turn into the snowflakes that we criticize. We’re like, ‘it’ a joke-.’”
