Tragic Loss: ‘My 600-lb Life’ Star Larry Myers Jr. Passes Away at Age 49

Larry Myers Jr., widely recognized as “Mr. Buttermilk Biscuits” from TLC’s reality series, My 600-lb Life, has passed away at the age of 49.

According to family members, Larry Myers Jr., died of a sudden heart attack on June 13.

“Larry fought the good fight. He has overcome some of the biggest challenges he has ever had to face,” the TLC star’s cousin said in a Facebook tribute to Myers.“Rest well Junior, you will be missed. Thanks and blessings to all. Please keep our family in your prayers.”

Myers rose to fame in 2022 when he starred in TLC’s hit series My 600-Lb Life, Larry’s Journey.” Viewers were introduced to Myer’s at 940 pounds and bedridden. Viewers watched as he struggled to lose 100 pounds.

Myers made his appearance in Season 10 Episode 13 of “My 600-lb Life” titled “Larry’s Journey,” which initially aired in January 2022. The episode’s description reads, “For Larry, a second surgery brings a new opportunity to pursue his dream as a gospel singer.”

Myers affectionately known as “Mr. Buttermilk Biscuits,” gained his nickname after capturing the internet’s attention with his performance of a catchy song about buttermilk biscuits at a chicken restaurant.

“I eat to comfort myself. When I’m cooking, it’s the only time I’m happy, besides when I’m eating,” he said on the show.

“So it’s the time that I like to sing, and I sing gospel. Because the rest of the time, when I’m not eating, most of my thoughts are morbidly depressing.”

Following his initial weight loss procedure, Myers experienced a significant weight gain of 400 pounds over the course of five years. This prompted him to seek the expertise of Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, the renowned obesity surgeon featured on the show, My 600-lb Life.

A GoFundMe set up by relatives shed some light on the late reality star’s personality and love for music. “Larry, aka Mr. Buttermilk Biscuits, has used his musical talents to bless others since the age of 10,” the statement said.

“From a small storefront church in his hometown to the big stage of the Apollo theater, Larry has always made himself available to sing at special events anytime anyone asked, most of the time free of charge. His struggles with weight gain/loss never dimmed his drive to show love and kindness to all he met.”

Myers’ sudden passing comes days after the TLC star celebrated his 49th birthday.
