Meghan McCain Has ZERO Compassion For Ariana Madix, Shows Sympathy For Raquel Leviss
Meghan McCain sided with Raquel Leviss after the reality star was raked over the coals by the Vanderpump Rules cast during the recently aired Season 10 reunion series.
“This was TV gold. It was the kind of real-life car crash that any connoisseur of unscripted slop relishes,” McCain wrote in a Daily Mail essay, which was published Wednesday.
“But somewhere along the way – something went terribly wrong. Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss were smothered in hate – real hate,” the former “The View” co-host noted.
The 38-year-old went on to explain that as the cheating scandal, also known as “Scandoval,” exploded in the press, she began to sympathize with Raquel over Ariana Madix, the now-ex of Tom Sandoval.
McCain acknowledged that both Sandoval, 40, and Raquel Leviss, 28, “behaved terribly,” but pointed out that the former pageant queen “took responsibility for what she did” and “apologized profusely.”
“She was clearly suffering,” McCain wrote, referring to Leviss.
She added — “Raquel checked herself into a mental health facility and had been in hiding — until the reunion finale. The scene on the Bravo stage was nothing short of a bloodbath.”
The columnist slammed the Bravo cast for ripping into Raquel with names like “whore,” a “f–king psychopath” and a “diabolical, demented, disgusting, subhuman.” She also dragged Madix for telling Leviss to go f**k herself with a cheese grater.
“It wasn’t enough,” the political commentator said of the reality star’s apology for her actions. “There was blood in the water and frenzy couldn’t be stopped.”
McCain noted that the show’s matriarch, Lisa Vanderpump, “recognized the pile on” and “tried to stop it.”
“Reality television is meant to be escapism, not sadism. Yet that’s what this became,” she wrote. “Raquel was shaking and crying. And it all may have taken a terrifying toll.”
McCain took aim at host, Andy Cohen, for alleging that Raquel appeared “really medicated” throughout the ordeal. She also pointed out that Madix and co-star, Lala Kent, have seemingly admitted that they took the public beat-down too far.
“This storyline needs to be resolved,” McCain wrote, crediting Raquel for pushing the Bravo show into a brighter national spotlight.
“‘Scandoval’ brought the show and the network a degree of cultural significance that they have never achieved before,” she said. “And from here now on out, they should proceed with a level of sensitivity that this debacle deserves. I, for one, want to watch how her story plays out.”
The Vanderpump Rules cast confronted Sandoval and Raquel about their secret affair for the first time on the Season 10 reunion stage.
In March, Madix discovered that her boyfriend of nine years was cheating on her when a sexually explicit video of Raquel appeared on Sandoval’s phone. It was later confirmed that the undercover lovers had been embroiled in an affair for months.
Madix immediately dumped the cover band frontman and Raquel checked into a mental health facility as the bombshell affair made headlines. Madix has since moved on with trainer, Daniel Mai.
Sandoval and Raquel have both claimed that they are no longer together.
