Al Roker’s Remarkable Comeback Earns High Praise from Fans Following Successful Knee Replacement Surgery 

Today fans were happy to see Al Roker out and about after he shared a new video of himself enjoying the sunshine in New York City. The 68-year-old captured the video during a walk through Central Park, on Sunday.

The TV weatherman spoke to his 924k followers while strolling through the park, wearing a gray T-shirt and a baseball cap. 

Al said — “Well, for the first time since my surgery, I guess it’ll be five weeks on Tuesday, I’m actually out in Central Park, taking my time.”

He added — “Only did about a mile and a half, gonna go ice up as soon as I’m done but it feels good.”

The daytime personality concluded — “Hope you’re having a great weekend and we will see you tomorrow on Today, have a great day everybody, bye!” 

Al captioned the upbeat footage — “Feels good to be back out in @centralparknyc walking at a leisurely pace. Thanks for all the encouragement from our #starttoday @todayshow walking family.”

The Today show host’s wife, Deborah Roberts, chimed in with a series of clapping hands emojis. 

Lots of fans cheered Al on, with one writing —  “That’s awesome Al,” and another calling him “an inspiration.”

One follower gushed — “You.Are.Amazing.” 

Another wrote — “Way to go, Al! Your docs must love you.”

An enthusiastic fan remarked — “You are my inspiration, keep walking Al!”

A third declared — “You really impress us all.”

Al posted the video after taking to the sky shortly after his recent knee replacement surgery. He appeared to be escaping the smoky New York skies caused by the wildfires in Canada, but some of his followers were concerned that he was flying so soon after surgery.

Al wrote — “This smoke and haze is for real out here at @lgaairport delaying takeoffs and landings!” 

The Today host’s fans flooded the comment section with concerned sentiments regarding his post-op health. 

One fan wrote — “Didn’t you just have a knee replacement! Be careful!”

A third asked — “You can fly so soon after your knee surgery?” 

Al Roker returned to Today in early January 2023 after battling a life-threatening health issue for two months. The 68-year-old weather anchor was off the air as he recovered from back-to-back hospitalizations, after being diagnosed with blood clots in his legs and lungs.
