Former ‘RHONJ’ Producer Wants Dolores Catania Fired For Adding ZERO to the Show
Former Real Housewives of New Jersey producer, Carlos King, is calling for a major cast shakeup for Season 14 — and believes that Dolores Catania should land on the network’s chopping block.
Fans know that Dolores Catania tends to fade into the background amid cast drama, and rarely mixes it up with other cast members, despite her tough girl exterior. She clashed with both Jackie Goldschneider and Jennifer Aydin in the past, but the conflicts failed to evolve into interesting storylines.
King sounded off about Teresa Giudice’s longtime pal during the most recent episode of his podcast, “Reality with the King,” blasting the RHONJ star as a bonafide bore. King began by pretending to fall asleep, a la vintage Vicki Gunvalson, adding a few snores to push his point.
“Dolores is a human form of the calming app — because Dolores, you give nothing,” the producer said.
King noted that it was Dolores Catania ex-husband, Frank Catania, who was the real star of the family.
King spoke directly to the mom of two, commenting:
“Dolores, the only reason why you’re on this show is because of Frank. And yes, because you are friends with Teresa.”
King explained how a “Housewives” cast can benefit from a quieter personality, a dynamic Dolores delivered.
“Not every Housewife on an ensemble needs to be this larger-than-life character. You do need someone who’s a little bit calm,” he said. “And I think Dolores got away with that a lot. Because she seems to be the calming factor when it comes to Jersey. But I’m just not sure what Dolores is bringing to the show besides Frank and her gorgeous son.”
Fans have cut Dolores Catania slack over the years because she has remained staunchly loyal to Teresa, amid the Bravo OG’s ups and downs. However, lots of viewers appear to agree with King — and believe that Teresa’s bestie should get the axe.
Last month, King took aim at Melissa Gorga when he asserted that she and her husband, Joe Gorga, should move on from RHONJ.
“I think it’s time for the Gorgas to go. I’m not going to say anything badly about them,” King said on the “Two Ts In a Pod” podcast on May 24.
King noted that while Melissa “was fantastic for the show at one point in time,” she fell short when it came to being transparent about her personal life. He also pointed out that the Gorga/Giudice feud storyline was too repetitive.
“Unfortunately, this is what happened, when you run through the hamster wheel of the same story every season and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, it’s time for someone to hop off the hamster wheel,” King told hosts, Tamra Judge and Teddi Mellencamp.
He added — “And one thing that Teresa has done, unlike Melissa, and this is no shade to Melissa, I report facts, Teresa has given everything to the show, including her blood type. She got married, divorced, had babies, went to jail, she has stood alone against her cousins, her family. She has never once complained about this is off-limits, she has given everything … My point is that Melissa hasn’t even given one percent of that in her personal story.”
