‘RHOA’ RECAP: Mama Joyce Says Todd Tucker Acts Like George Jefferson 

Welcome back to another episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. We pick up in Birmingham, Alabama, where Marlo Hampton and Kenya Moore scream at each other, after Marlo kicked Kenya’s door to get answers. Shereé Whitfield asks Kenya to come out after Kenya calls Marlo a “stupid h*e” but Kenya’s over it! Marlo screams and tells Kenya to stop being disrespectful while calling Kenya a “broke a**.”

Sheree’s confused at Marlo’s “Summer” comment as Marlo coins Kenya as Kenya “Summer” Moore. Marlo’s in the hall going off for no reason as Monyetta Shaw-Carter tells Marlo she can do what she wants and that their responsible for their own actions. As cameras follow the ladies into the elevator, Monyetta and Marlo begin arguing. 

Monyetta tells Marlo to be an example, but Marlo thinks that’s Kenya’s job since she’s older. In her confessional, Shereé says Monyetta and Marlo are the types who want the last word and the two are like playing “Rocks, Paper, Scissors” with two rocks. LOL. As they reach the main floor, Marlo’s rushing out and attempts to slam the door in Monyetta’s face!

Monyetta pushes the door in time and immediately goes after Marlo before being separated by Courtney Rhodes. Sheree tries to come to Marlo’s defense saying the door failed but we all know what we just saw! Marlo threatens to walk Monyetta like a dog as she orders a drink before going outside to cool off. Monyetta calls Marlo a tacky-mess while asking Sheree if Marlo wants to go back to jail. 

Marlo’s asking for food outside as Courtney comes to her aide as Marlo calls Kenya a demon LOL. Monyetta calls Kenya to call Marlo crazy as Kenya calls Marlo a snake and says she can’t be trusted. As Courtney and Marlo talk outside, Kenya wonders why the ladies banged on her door. Sheree lies and says she knocked while Marlo kicked the door, but Kenya’s upset Monyetta and Sheree didn’t stop Marlo’s antics.

Brooklyn’s in the back tired and Kenya tells the ladies who aren’t her core group of friends, to leave. Sanya Richards-Ross takes the phone from Monyetta and attempts to explain their point of view, but Kenya tells Sanya not to come back.

Without missing a beat, Sanya gets up to go upstairs to begin packing. Sanya has work in the morning and would rather be at home than dealing with this drama. Sanya thinks Kenya was worse to her in Jamaica and doesn’t understand why Kenya’s treating her this way. Sheree tells Kenya the ladies felt there was more to their trip and Kenya admits she planned a surprise performance at the halftime show of The Magic City Classics. Sheree admits the ladies wanted to see Kenya but it’s clear this trip is a bust. Marlo and Courtney come inside to sit, and Marlo’s upset she let Kenya take control of her. Courtney continues kissing Marlo’s a** as Sanya calls to spill the tea on what happened, and Marlo begins sending hateful texts to Kenya. Marlo texted Kenya that she’s rude and selfish. I think we all know who the selfish one is here. 

Courtney tries to stop Marlo from posting the message to Instagram as Monyetta tells Sheree she’s good on Marlo. Kenya’s still on the phone as Monyetta threatens to call “Ray-Ray and them.” A flashback shows Sheree going off thirteen years ago as Monyetta claims Marlo’s not worth snapping on. Marlo begins laughing uncontrollably as Sanya comes down with her luggage. As Sanya’s speaking, Kenya ask who’s talking and Sanya walks away in frustration. Sheree informs the ladies of Kenya’s surprise, and the ladies mourn the missed opportunity as Marlo shades Kenya in her confessional. Marlo and Monyetta continue throwing subliminals at each other as the ladies go to their rooms and Sanya heads to the airport. 

The next day, we see Drew Sidora leaving the hospital after an over-night stay. Drew was looking forward to spending time with the girls but had to put her health first. Todd Tucker’s speaking with his co-producer Reece, as Kandi Burruss enters. After hanging up, Kandi makes it a point to acknowledge she scheduled time for Todd and Todd brings out a poster for his new project “The Pass.” Kandi explains Todd’s concept as Todd gets frustrated at Kandi’s inattention. Kandi’s answering text-messages as Todd tries to get Kandi’s undivided attention. Kandi puts the phone down as we get a flashback of her telling the girls she couldn’t make the Birmingham trip.

Kandi Burruss tells Todd that Mama Joyce recently called her but failed to mention her behavior at Bravo Con. Todd tells Kandi he doesn’t want the kids seeing Mama Joyce’s comments and Kandi’s disappointed Mama Joyce had the opportunity to speak positively about Todd and chose not to. Todd thinks Mama Joyce plays into the whole “Evil Mother-in-Law” role and cracks on him every chance she gets. Kandi wonders if Mama Joyce thinks it’s funny but now understands it’s her job to fix it. The conversation is interrupted by Kandi’s team informing her that a car is coming to take her to the airport as we head back to Birmingham to the rest of the ladies. 

Courtney FaceTime’s Drew to check in on her and to give her the tea from the trip. Courtney tells Drew a lot has happened as Marlo calls her life coach, Miss Sharon. Miss Sharon tells Marlo to learn how to walk away from things and Marlo admits to admiring Kenya. Miss Sharon wants Marlo to figure out her triggers as Marlo continues working on herself. At 9:00 AM, Kenya told producers she couldn’t film and soon we see Kenya on the phone calling herself an ambulance! Kenya tells dispatchers she has a fever and is having trouble breathing! Paramedics come to check on Kenya as Sheree watches from outside. The ambulance takes Kenya to the hospital and Shereé calls the ladies to her room to update them. Sheree tells the ladies about the commotion and that Kenya’s in the hospital as Marlo pretends to be concerned. 

Monyetta says Kenya is getting chest x-rays done as Marlo wonders if they can visit Kenya. Sheree FaceTime’s Kenya as Kenya gives the ladies an update from her hospital bed. The ladies send prayers and kisses as Kenya tells the ladies not to come before hanging up to rest. Monyetta’s mother passed away recently so seeing Kenya in the hospital triggers an emotional reaction. The ladies console Monyetta as Marlo leads a prayer on Kenya’s behalf. Marlo apologizes to Monyetta for their issues last night and forces Monyetta to hug her. Monyetta tries to hold Marlo accountable for slamming the door on her but Shereé jumps in to claim the door slammed on it’s own. 

Marlo blames drinking for her behavior as she and Monyetta agree to respect each other. The ladies hug it out as they pack up to head back to Atlanta. Marlo called Sanya to update her on Kenya as the ladies head downstairs to eat. Kenya’s assistant texted Shereé with an update on Kenya and although Kenya’s running a fever; the assistant they’re keeping Kenya to run test. However, Marlo states she tried to send Kenya flowers and the receptionist said Kenya checked out. Marlo expressed she was excited for the game and has Monyetta show us a bit of Kenya’s choreography. Monyetta shows the ladies what she’s working with as Marlo gives Monyetta her props in her confessional. 

Marlo hopes the ladies can keep this positive energy in Atlanta, as Shereé ask Monyetta if they’ll be able to get along when the other girls are in the mix. Monyetta replies everything will be good as long as she’s respected, and Marlo doesn’t try to fight her friends. Marlo’s hesitant as Sheree says they’re taking baby steps as Courtney ask Sheree how she’ll be around Drew. Producers show us a flashback of Sheree and Drew’s feud and a scene from October where Sheree and Marlo tells Courtney to tread lightly around Drew. 

Shereé tells the girls that Drew called her singing her praises, but their friendship took a step back after Sheree heard Drew talking about her on a podcast. Drew told the people after last year’s reunion; Sheree took back the “She by Sheree” merchandise she gifted the ladies! Sheree doesn’t appreciate Drew’s lies and doesn’t know where the two stand now. Marlo, Sheree, and Courtney head outside and as soon as Monyetta’s no longer in earshot; Marlo tells Shereé and Courtney that things won’t work out with Monyetta when she gets around the group. The ladies laugh about being the strongest one’s standing as everyone heads back to Atlanta. 

The next day, Kandi’s cousin Weenie gives her props for winning an award as Courtney and Sanya hang out at a crystal shop. Sanya ask Courtney how she feels about Birmingham and Sanya admits Kenya hurt her feelings. Sanya tells Courtney she thinks Kenya’s salty about her new friendship with Marlo and plans to confront Kenya about it. Later, Shereé visits Kenya as Sheree stays six-feet back while dropping off a goodie bag for Kenya. Kenya tells Sheree the hospital couldn’t find anything and diagnosed her with the flu before sending Kenya on her way. Kenya’s sad she wasn’t able to perform in Birmingham and is heartbroken she missed out on her opportunity. 

Kenya doesn’t remember everything from the trip, but Kenya remembers Marlo kicking her door like a crazy person! Shereé can’t defend Marlo as producers ask Sheree if she also kicked on the door. Sheree denies it but producers show us Sheree kicking Kenya’s door and running. Sheree tells Kenya that Marlo wants her approval and attention, but Kenya thinks Marlo wants her negative attention. Brooklyn quickly comes in to show the ladies her karate moves. Once Brooklyn leaves, Kenya checks in on Sheree and Sheree tells Kenya she wants to go the holistic route to manage her fibroids. Sheree doesn’t want her fibroids hindering her sex-life and will research all options before going under the knife. 

Shereé hasn’t told anyone and when Kenya ask why, Sheree jokes that she’s expecting. After gagging Kenya, Sheree tells the truth and the two have a cute moment laughing together. Later, Mama Joyce visits Kandi at home so the two can talk. After Kandi gets a water for Mama Joyce, Kandi gets down to business. Kandi’s trying to do a million things and Mama Joyce encourages Kandi to keep going as Kandi gently checks Mama Joyce. Kandi admits the two haven’t spoken since Bravo Con and rehashed the nasty things Mama Joyce said about Todd. Kandi tells Mama Joyce that the videos went viral, but Mama Joyce claims she told the truth and suggest Todd lighten up! Kandi tells Mama Joyce that she continues to drag Todd and questions if Mama Joyce ever brought up the good qualities about Todd.

Mama Joyce admits she doesn’t see Todd much because he avoids her, and Kandi points out the negative energy coming from Mama Joyce. Instead of apologizing, Mama Joyce threatens not to come around, but Kandi remains strong and tells Mama Joyce to cut the sh**! Kandi tells her mama that things are getting out of hand and that she needs to stop. Kandi tells Mama Joyce that her grandkids love her, but they don’t want to see her dragging their daddy. Mama Joyce responds by saying she wants to see Ace learn to take out the trash and claims that’s what a man is supposed to teach his son. 

Mama Joyce thinks Todd was meek and timid when he first married Kandi but now she thinks Todd acts like George Jefferson.  Kandi’s laughs at Mama Joyce’s nonsense as Mama Joyce shades Kandi for accepting that Todd goes to strip clubs. Kandi informs Mama Joyce that they visit strip clubs together and she’s not intimidated by anyone. Kandi tells Mama Joyce to worry about her man, when she gets one as Kandi suggest going to counseling to resolve their issues.

Mama Joyce agrees to counseling and the two shake on it. Let’s hope for the best! Later, Kenya meets up with Shereé and Drew to get their IV hydration on at Vida Flo. Since the ladies have been fighting illnesses, Kenya wanted to give them an extra boost to stay healthy. Sheree’s sitting with Kenya as Drew arrives and tries to give Sheree a hug, which Sheree declines and offers a high-five to Drew instead. As Drew sits, Sheree explains her issue with Drew and her comment that Sheree took back her merchandise after last year’s reunion.

Drew denies saying Sheree took back “Everything”, but producers show us the receipts! Drew wanted a particular bag but Sheree claims that was her personal bag that was on stage by mistakes. Drew clarifies she called Sheree after the podcast comment and doesn’t want Shereé to think she’s not genuine. Drew and Sheree joke about the products as the nurse enters to begin their vitamin drip. Kenya fills Drew in on their Birmingham trip, while asking Drew to clarify the drama between her and Marlo.

Once Drew recaps what happened, Drew tells Sheree what led Marlo to standing over her and Drew questions why Marlo’s upset. Sheree gives Kenya and Drew the story Marlo told and Kenya doesn’t understand how Marlo’s nephew being murdered, has anything to do with Kandi? Sheree says Marlo’s upset over Kandi not reaching out to Quentin’s mother or sending flowers. Kenya jokes on Drew for being a hard stick for the nurse, as Kenya ask Drew if she gave Courtney her number. Drew denies it but says Courtney’s event sounds fun and explains Courtney’s throwing a team-building event. Sheree tells the ladies of “the good energy” pack they made in Alabama, and a preview of three days later where we see Kandi going IN on Marlo! As the preview plays, Kenya wants to see Marlo acknowledge, apologize, and change her behavior. We’ll see, next week on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
