‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Ratings Plunge to All-Time Low! Cast in Panic Mode as Show’s Future Hangs in the Balance
The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast is starting to sweat amid dismal ratings, according to a new report by Radar Online.
The show kicked off its 15th season on May 7 to 834,000 viewers and 0.28 in the key demo. The number dropped to 738k viewers the following week and by May 28, only 657k viewers tuned in to watch the once-popular Bravo series.
Production sources told the outlet that Real Housewives of Atlanta cast members have been following the ratings and are nervous about the low numbers.
“They are worried Bravo will pull a recast on them as they did to the cast of the Real Housewives of New York,” an insider claimed. “None of them feel safe, even Kandi.”
Fans know that Bravo wiped out the entire cast of the NYC franchise to start over, after a ratings nosedive. Several iconic RHONY alums are currently preparing to film Peacock spinoff series, Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip, as Bravo tests the waters with a brand new cast for the original show.
Real Housewives of Atlanta averaged about 950,000 viewers per episode, last season. Season 13 brought in an estimated 1.25 million viewers every week. Back in Season 7, when NeNe Leakes was still in the mix, 3 million viewers tuned in every week.
The current cast includes Drew Sidora, Marlo Hampton, Sanya Richards-Ross, Kenya Moore, Kandi Burruss and Sheree Whitfield. Monyetta Shaw-Carter and Courtney Rhodes round out the cast in part-time roles.
Fans have been vocal about how they feel about the new season and many have been slamming the cast and the “boring” storylines, on social media.
One person said — “Y’all not gone agree but I don’t think Marlo is the downfall of RHOA I think their are some OTHER housewives with boring made up story lines taking up space on the show #RHOA but y’all won’t let them go cause they’ve held their peach so long.”
Another asked — “What did they expect? NeNe left . Porsha left, the ratings left right after that. Only person to bring drama and shake the table is Marlo. Everyone else is Boring and childish. #RHOA.”
Some viewers want to see the network bring back popular past cast members, such as NeNe Leakes and Porsha Williams.
A fan tweeted — “Why did Bravo think centering #rhoa around the most boring hw aka Kandi was the move?!!! Kenya is single-handedly carrying the ratings alone, Andy needs to put his ego aside & bring NeNe & Porsha back.”
In March, Porsha Williams opened up about how insults fired off by her former co-star, Kenya Moore, had affected her.
“We were at a reunion and I had a longtime beef with Kenya, and there was this one reunion that we were going back and forth,” Porsha explained, during a March hosting stint on The Breakfast Club.
Porsha subbed in the word “eggplant” in her commentary, a social media symbol for Kenya Moore’s blunt profanity.
“And she said, ‘You don’t know what you’re saying unless you have an eggplant in your mouth.’ It was like a mic drop moment,” she continued. “I was so discombobulated, and I was like ‘damn.’”
“It didn’t only ring in my head, it’s because my sister would say it,” she added. “My sister I’ll be saying something, like even now I’ll be saying something, she be like, ‘Girl, shut up, you don’t know what you saying unless you got a d–k in your mouth,’ and I’m like ‘Stop saying that!’”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs on Sundays at 8 pm ET on Bravo.
