Meghan Markle Spotted Parting Excessively Without Her husband, Prince Harry
Meghan Markle has been hitting the party scene without her husband, Prince Harry, according to British journalist, Petronella Wyatt.
Wyatt took to Twitter last month to dish that the Duchess of Sussex had been leaving Harry, 38, “at home” in Montecito, California.
She wrote — “Friends of mine who live near Harry and Meghan Markle are always bumping into Meghan at parties these days.”
Wyatt added — “Strangely, she tends to leave Harry at home.”
Wyatt alleged that Meghan Markle had become close with a prominent “American family,” in a second tweet.
The journalist tweeted — “La Megs has become pally with someone from a very famous American family, whose wealth surpasses that of the Windsors.”
Wyatt taunted the 41-year-old for receiving a recent “Woman of Vision” award, writing — “Her tally is in danger of overtaking that of both Einstein and Nelson Mandela.”
The society reporter went on to ask — “Why is Meghan a woman of vision, anyway? Tunnel vision would be a better description.”
The former “Suits” actress dazzled in a gold dress for the New York City awards ceremony, but her big moment morphed into a media sideshow after the royal couple’s spokesperson claimed that they had been involved in a “near catastrophic car chase” with photographers.
The New York Police Department put out a statement about the incident the next day, stating that officers “assisted the private security team protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex” after the duo exited the “Women of Vision Awards” in an SUV around 10 pm. An NYPD source later told The Post that the pursuit “definitely wasn’t two hours” and that there were “no collision reports or 911 calls.”
The paparazzi agency in the mix, Backgrid, also staunchly denied any wrongdoing.
“According to the photographers present, there were no near-collisions or near-crashes during this incident,” a rep for the agency said in a statement. “The photographers have reported feeling that the couple was not in immediate danger at any point.”
The View’s Whoopi Goldberg also raised an eyebrow at Meghan Markle and Harry’s dramatic account, joking — “I think people in New York know if it was possible to have car chases in New York, we’d all make it to the theater on time.”
The “Sister Act” actress added—“I think their spokesperson referenced something that you generally would reference in Los Angeles. That’s where you have chases. That’s where you can move at high speeds.”
The couple hit back at the harsh backlash by having a rep issue yet another statement, slamming the suggestion that the incident was a “PR stunt.”
“Respectfully, considering the duke’s family history, one would have to think nothing of the couple or anybody associated with them to believe this was any sort of PR stunt,” the couple’s publicist, Ashley Hansen, told Page Six, referring to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana’s fatal car crash.
“Quite frankly, I think that’s abhorrent,” the rep added.
