Andy Cohen Backpedals On Teresa Giudice’s Desire To Quit ‘RHONJ’
Andy Cohen has set the record straight about comments he made about Teresa Giudice, after he sparked a flood of rumors hinting that she was exiting the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
On Wednesday, the Bravo executive said on his SiriusXM radio show, “Radio Andy,” that he believed that Teresa may be ready to walk away from the reality show after taping an especially turbulent Season 13 reunion series, last month. The Bravo boss noted the same opinion in his newly released book, “The Daddy Diaries.”
Teresa Giudice was not on board with Cohen’s assessment and let him know it during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, on Tuesday. Cohen, 54, shared that Teresa set him straight during a backstage chat.
“Teresa said, ‘I need to talk to you about some things that are in the book,’ and I said, ‘OK’ … and we had a conversation off the stage, and she’s like, ‘You know, I didn’t quit the show at the last reunion,’ and I go, ‘That’s not what I said,’” he shared.
Andy Cohen continued — “I just thought she was done and over it after the last reunion, and I believe I said something to her, and I think I even maybe said, ‘I don’t know, maybe you should step away. What do you think?’”
He went on to reveal that he received a text message from the Bravo OG a week after the reunion taping, in which she wrote — “‘I’m not leaving the show, and I never want to leave the show.’”
Fans know that Teresa, 51, has been embroiled in a seemingly never-ending feud with her brother, Joe Gorga, and sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga, 44, the likely reason for Cohen’s assumption that she might need a break.
The mom of four has repeatedly insisted that she would never leave the show that she helped create.
“I started the show,” she told People last year. “I’m never going to give that to anyone because I’m the one that started the show.”
Teresa Giudice and the entire RHONJ cast are currently in limbo, as the show has been put “on pause” amid the family turmoil, per a report by Page Six. Sources told the outlet that Bravo executives have decided to put off Season 14 production because Teresa and Melissa are “legitimately estranged.” No one in the cast has reportedly “been offered a contract — or been fired — for next season.”
In October 2022, Melissa told PEOPLE that she was “done” with her sister-in-law.
“I got off the roller coaster,” she declared. “I don’t want to be on it anymore. We’ll see what happens,” she said, two months after skipping Teresa and Luis Ruelas’ wedding.
Tensions boiled over during Season 13 after it was revealed that Teresa had been involved in spreading a cheating rumor about her sister-in-law. The revelation led to Melissa and Joe ditching her glitzy nuptials.
“I think that sometimes this goes on. How many times do you want to go in and out, in and out? Eventually you need to protect your immediate family,” Melissa explained, at the time. “We need to protect our marriage and our children and our life that we live. We can’t always just try to put our hands out and it doesn’t get reciprocated. We’re tired.”
