Kim Zolciak Hit With Another Tax Lien Amid Messy Divorce
Kim Zolciak and her estranged husband, Kroy Biermann, have been slammed with a second tax lien by the state of Georgia, adding to the $1.1 million the soon-to-be exes already owe the IRS.
Radar Online obtained records that confirmed that the Georgia Department of Revenue filed the lien against the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum and the former NFL player, on April 3.
The lien accuses the couple of owing $8,823 in unpaid taxes for the year 2018. The debt has increased due to added interest of $2,261 and various fees totaling $1800. The debt figure is listed as $15,104.72.
The IRS filed a federal tax lien against the “Don’t Be Tardy” couple on April 11. The lien stated that Kim and Kroy owe $103,564.48 for 2013, $330,126.29 for 2017, and $714,143.90 for 2018, adding up to $1,147,834.67.
The combined federal and state liens total $1,162,939.39.
Reports of the couple’s financial woes came alongside bombshell headlines announcing the duo’s plan to divorce. Kim and Kroy filed individual divorce petitions and Kroy, who was the first to file, demanded primary custody of their four minor children and spousal support. He noted that the marriage had been “irretrievably broken.”
Kroy and Kim share four children together — Kroy, 11, Kash, 10, and 9-year-old twins, Kaia and Kane.
His petition stated — “Said children are presently in the care, custody, and control of [Kroy], and [Kroy] seeks the temporary and permanent sole legal and sole physical custody of said minor children.”
Kroy also asked to be awarded temporary and permanent child support.
The documents read — “The parties have accumulated certain debts and obligations, during the course of this marriage, and Plaintiff seeks an equitable division of same. The parties have accumulated certain debts and obligations, during the course of this marriage, and [Kroy] seeks an equitable division of same.”
“The money has been a huge issue,” an insider told People, earlier this month. “The million-dollar tax [payment] was just way too much pressure on them.”
Kroy Biermann requested ownership of their marital home despite Kim previously stating that she had no intention of moving out. In November 2022, Kim took to her Instagram Story to deny reports that their $2.5 million home was in foreclosure.
“I’m here until I f—king want to move out,” the Bravo alum declared, at the time. “Til I decide I don’t want to live here anymore.”
The Alpharetta property landed in foreclosure the following February, due to the couple defaulting on a 2016 loan of $1.6 million. Kim was later able to strike a deal that led to the cancellation of the March 7 auction.
As reported, Kim and Kroy had been “avoiding each other” while living together in the family home.
