Andy Cohen CONFIRMS Lisa Rinna Was FIRED From RHOBH … Rinna Denies Andy’s Claims!
Andy Cohen spilled the tea on Lisa Rinna’s exit from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, in his new book — and confirmed Lisa Vanderpump’s assertion that soap actress alum was fired.
Within the pages of “The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up,” the infamous host of Watch What Happens Live divulges the behind-the-scenes details of how Lisa Rinna shockingly quit the show, sending a late-night text after filming the explosive season 12 reunion episode.
However, Andy Cohen claims that Lisa had a change of heart, leaving him believing that she should take a break.
“Feels like she has a toxic relationship with the show at this point,” the 54-year-old continued in his book, “and taking a break away could do everyone good.”
He added in the postscript, “We mutually agreed with Rinna that she should take a break from the show (this is a real pause).”
Let’s dive into the intriguing details behind Andy Cohen’s recent revelations. Lisa Rinna impulsively quit The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills following the contentious filming of the reunion in September 2022. Unbeknownst to her, the network aligned with her choice and did not request her to reconsider stepping down. Then Lisa attempted to retract her resignation and Bravo delivered a blow by informing her that they would not be offering her a spot in the upcoming season. Being placed on “pause,” is Bravo speak for being fired.
The bombshell revelation sent shockwaves through the Housewives fandom, eliciting strong reactions from the co-hosts of SiriusXM’s Smith Sisters Live — Mariah, Rachel and Lauren Smith. During their radio show episode on May 11, the Smith Sisters didn’t hold back, describing Lisa’s departure as “chaotic.”
“That was wild to me because I had understood the narrative as her having been fired,” Lauren told Andy, “and I was mind-blown when she texted immediately that night after the reunion being like, ‘I’m out.’ But then, it was like, ‘Actually, no I’m not.’ And then, it’s like, ‘Well, now you’re on pause.'”
Mariah went on to share her perspective, suggesting that Lisa Rinna must have experienced immediate regret following her decision to quit the show.
A representative for the Days of Our Lives alum spoke to E! News on May 12, and firmly denies being “on pause” for RHOBH.
“There was never any discussion with anyone about that concept,” the rep said. “Her contract ended, and the parties mutually agreed not to engage on a new one. She felt her time on the show had run its course and she was more than happy to move on. And she still does not regret it.”
In January, Lisa revealed her departure from the series, expressing her excitement for the upcoming chapter in her life. With a mix of emotions, she bid farewell to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and hinted at new adventures on the horizon.
“This is the longest job I have held in my 35 year career and I am grateful to everyone at Bravo and all those involved in the series,” the 59-year-old said in a statement to E! News at the time. “It has been a fun eight-year run and I am excited for what is to come!”
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on March 8, Lisa Vanderpump confirmed Lisa Rinna was fired from the Bravo reality series.
Vanderpump was asked by Andy Cohen during the broadcast, “Would you ever consider going back to Beverly Hills since Lisa Rinna is finally gone?” Stirring the pot — Vanderpump responded, “Oh, Rinna is finally gone? Did she leave or was she fired?”
Andy Cohen broke the uncomfortable silence and said, “She’s on brief pause…” to which Vanderpump insisted, “I know she was fired.” The talk show host threw a hand up in disbelief and proclaimed, “There’s nothing I can say here.”
Lisa Vanderpump, who currently has her own eponymous show on the network, responded as though she had nothing to lose.“I’m going to get a lot of shit tomorrow, but it’s worth it,” the reality star quipped.
