Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s divorce could become messy as the ex-couple’s custody war heats up. Sources suggest that an older, wealthy gentlemen has been providing financial support to Kim during her troubled times.

A source close to the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum told PEOPLE that “everyone expects this divorce is going to get really bad because neither of them will give in,” when it comes to their four children. 

Kim Zolciak, 44, and Kroy, 37, share four children together, Kroy, 11, Kash, 10, and 9-year-old twins, Kaia and Kane. Kroy also legally adopted Kim’s oldest children, daughters, Ariana, 21 and Brielle, 26, in 2013.

The insider added that Kroy is the “absolute sweetest guy” but had struggled to navigate his role within the busy household.  

“As a couple, it’s obvious that Kim has always been the head of the household,” the source told the outlet. “Because of that, this makes [the divorce] even harder for him.”

“It’s really sad because he is a great dad,” the tipster noted. “With that said, they were both very involved parents and they both deserve to share custody and anyone that knows them would agree.”

The Don’t Be Tardy mom filed for divorce earlier this week, after being married to the former NFL player for 12 years. Kroy filed his own divorce  petition and requested sole legal and physical custody of the duo’s four children. TMZ previously obtained documents that pointed to Kim requesting primary physical custody and asking to share joint legal custody with her ex. 

“She’s not cutting the kids off from Kroy,” a second snitch previously told PEOPLE. ”She wants him to be involved as their dad.”

A friend of the mom of six also claimed that she had been planning the breakup for “a long time.” 

The friend added — “They are a very tight-knit family and this isn’t easy for any of the children.”

Kroy Biermann’s divorce petition listed November 11, 2011, as the start date of the marriage. The documents stated that the marriage had been  “irretrievably broken,” indicating that the couple’s relationship was past the point of a possible reconciliation. The petition listed the ex-couple’s date of separation as April 30, as reported by TMZ. 

The first source believes that the upcoming divorce war puts Kim in a strong position to land a role on Peacock series, The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip. 

“I know for sure Kim has already been pitched for Girls Trip,” the insider revealed. “They felt she would be amazing on the last Girls Trip but it was already cast.”

“I am sure they are considering her for the next Girls Trip and I know if she is offered to do it, she will take it,” the source added. “Sadly, this drama makes her have a huge story line and that is obviously attractive for reality TV.” 

As rumors circulate about Kim and Kroy’s divorce, speculation intensifies regarding her alleged infidelity and financial troubles involving a wealthy older man. Wild allegations have emerged among fans, who took to social media to express their reactions and opinions.
