Inside the Life of “Octomom” Nadya Suleman and Her 14 Children – See Their Lives Today!

Nadya Suleman, who is widely known as the “Octomom,” made headlines in 2009 after giving birth to eight healthy babies.

Nadya was already a mom of six at the time, after undergoing IVF. Nadya became a busy mother of 14 after welcoming her octuplets. The newborns weighed between 1 pound 8 ounces and 3 pounds 4 ounces at birth.

Nadya, who previously landed a reality TV show in the United Kingdom, has been raising her large brood largely under the radar. Nadya, who goes by the moniker Natalie Suleman on Instagram, has shared updates on her family on social media, from time to time.

Vegan Diet and Exercise

Nadya is a health enthusiast, who adheres to a strict vegan diet and follows a rigorous workout routine. Her favorite pastime is weightlifting, and she dedicates 4-5 days a week to her fitness regimen. Her children have followed in her footsteps.

“As a mom I try to feed my family the most nutritious, nutrient dense foods possible, but also believe educating them on why we eat what we eat is invaluable,” Nadya shared of her children’s diets in a May 2022 Instagram post. “We are ethical vegans first, refusing to contribute to the merciless suffering of sentient beings, and the destruction of our planet. The byproduct of leading a vegan lifestyle is excellent health.”

Nadya posted new pics of her kids on June 15, 2020, which featured the large crew having fun in the kitchen. She wrote alongside the cute snaps — “Nariyah and Maliyah are slowly taking over as head chefs since they love to cook.”

In a post, Nadya revealed that exercise is a crucial coping mechanism for her to manage stress, given her responsibilities as a mother of 14, she shared: “I would like to share about how I cope with inordinate stress, after being asked how I stay sane lol. Throughout my life I’ve opted on a physical outlet to constructively channel stress, anger, anxiety etc. Since age 17, I would go to the gym, climb on the stairmaster, and push 99 (highest it would go), no music (I’ve graduated to a tiny iPod that my son has to download music onto as I’ve been stuck in 1995 for over 20 years 😂), climbing approximately 10 miles, my mind pushing my body to press on, despite pain or exhaustion.”

She continued, “The stress literally drips off of me, as I’m drenched in the end. Being physical has significantly helped me cope with so many challenges I’ve struggled with throughout my life.”

Fans noticed at the time that Nadya’s son Aidan was absent from the photo series. She previously revealed that her son had a developmental disorder, clarifying that Aidan was on the “Autism spectrum.” The proud mother promised to “never give up on him.”

Gratitude

In a separate post, Nadya took a moment to express her gratitude for the followers she had gained over the previous 12 years. Nadya also shared her goals for the upcoming year.

She captioned the post — “I will try to share far more frequently with you all this year; and in addition, elucidate misconceptions from my past. 2020 marks the seventh year since escaping the false life I was leading; forging on, building a better life for my family.”

Fans expressed surprise over how much the kids had grown since Nadya’s last photo dump, on the group’s first day of fifth grade.

Nadya wrote, in August 2019 — “You are all becoming some of the most kind, selfless, caring human beings I have ever known.”

Nadya Turns 47

In July 2022, Nadya marked her 47th birthday by proudly sharing that her  kids had honored her by whipping up some homemade treats. She shared that “a few of my youngest ‘chefs’ surprised me with a homemade vegan marble cake, donut balls and lasagna.”

She added — “[This] is all that matters to me, family and the love we have for one another.”

Octuplets 13th Birthday

On the occasion of the octuplets’ 13th birthday, Nadya treated herself and her entire family to a fun day of bowling, followed by some quality time at a nearby park.

The octuplets celebrated their 14th birthdays on January 26, 2023. The family celebrated with a birthday party at home, complete with gold mylar balloons and vegan donuts instead of a traditional birthday cake, as all of the eight teenagers are vegan.

Weekly Family Meetings

Nadya engages in weekly meetings with her children, covering a wide range of topics. In the post shared, they had a conversation that lasted “over an hour and a half,” focused on the negative impact of quarantine on mental health and how it affected students’ behavior at school.

During one of her weekly meetings with her children, Nadya facilitated a discussion on the topic of “hurt and hate.” “Once per week I educate my kids on various topics ranging from mental health, to physical health, to how nutrition impacts our health and wellness, to critical issues our society and world is facing,” she wrote in the caption. “I’ve chosen to share only a small fragment of our discussion, as this can go on for hours. My kids share and discuss personal stories they’ve experienced, which I keep private.”

Before giving birth to octuplets: Noah, Josiah, Nariyah, Maliyah, Jonah, Jeremiah, Isaiah and Makai in 2009 — Nadya already had six children — Ameerah, Calyssa, Elijah, Caleb, Joshua and Aidan.
