’90 Day Fiance’ Transgender Star Creates Family Drama Over Secret Engagement
Gabriel Paboga shared a major life update with his mother and sister on Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.
The TLC personality broke the news that he was engaged to his Colombian girlfriend, Isabel Posada, after admittedly waiting as long as he could to share the big news.
The two women were happy for Gabe, but upset that they were the last people to hear the news. Neither his mom nor his sister had met Isabel, and both had concerns about her motives.
“It kind of hurts,” his sister admitted of Gabe’s decision to stall sharing his engagement news.
“My son’s marrying a woman I’ve never met before, so I do have worries and concerns,” his mom told cameras. “I want to make sure if I’m losing my son to her that she is the right person.”
The pair both suggested a prenuptial agreement, since Isabel planned to be a stay-at-home mom and a support to Gabe’s small business.
Gabe shot down the idea of a prenup, commenting — “I feel like once you get a prenup, it’s like, setting it up for failure.”
“It’s more of an insurance policy,” his sister countered. “It’s a protection plan.”
Gabe’s family members were relieved to hear that Isabel’s family had accepted him as a transgender despite their religious backgrounds. Gabe’s sister will meet Isabel for the first time, in next week’s episode. Gabe is concerned that the pair could clash, due to their strong personalities.
“Maybe your personality and her personality is gonna be like one in the same,” Gabe pointed out in a preview for the upcoming episode. “You’re very aggressive sometimes.”
Gabe’s sister sees the upside in sharing a common personality trait with her future sister-in-law.
She notes that it “makes me feel good because I know that he has someone in his corner.”
Gabe popped the question in an episode that aired earlier this month. Gabe used a hand painted plate to propose after visiting the pottery studio with Isabel’s two children, Sara and Miguel.
Gabe presented a plate that read—”Will you marry me?” along with an engagement ring.
“It was a beautiful moment because I really wanted it,” Isabel said in a confessional spot. “I wished for it, but I didn’t know it was going to be so soon.”
Gabe told his fiancée that he had received blessings from both her father and her children.
“To have the consent of the children, he practically asked the kids’ permission first to keep going with what he had in mind,” Isabel told cameras. “Obviously to me it’s very important to see three of the people I love most in this world happy together and planning things for everyone’s future. For me, it’s complete happiness.”
