Blast, whose birth name is Lydell Birch, was doing an interview with Lawd Lukan from the outside of a house when an intruder appeared about 32 minutes into the live feed. A wall mounted television behind the manager allowed viewers to see the alleged interloper appear after thumping noises interrupted the interview. The disturbance startled Blast, who stood up and appeared to pull out a firearm before the footage cut off.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson later stated in a press conference that a male had been shot and killed at an address linked to Blast. The officer revealed that the victim had been in a dispute with a woman in the front yard, when the incident unfolded.
The man reportedly took a bat from a trunk of a vehicle and began smashing cars parked in the driveway. He went on to kick in the front door before heading to the back yard, where he was gunned down. The man was later identified as Las Vegas resident, Lendor Coney Jr. Coney and the woman had been in a relationship, but their status was unclear at the time of the killing. It was confirmed that two children were present when police arrived, but neither minor was injured.
Police identified the woman, a 43-year-old divorced mother and school teacher, as Blast’s girlfriend. Starcasm later confirmed that she is the legal owner of the home where the shooting occurred.
On Friday, Lt. Johansson reported that the case had been forwarded to the Clark County district attorney’s office in order to investigate Blast’s claim of self defense.
