Today fans want substitute host and former panelist on The View, Michelle Collins, to permanently join the morning show. Michelle sat alongside Hoda Kotb and Jenna Hager on Friday for a conversation about current cultural trends.
The trio chatted about “Short King Spring” which sparked a discussion about short actors and the current pop culture scene. The ladies then shared their thoughts about celebrities using filters to enhance their looks. Things got more heated when the hosts debated using voice notes. Fans reacted to the segment, but had less to say about the topic of conversation and more about the chemistry between Hoda Kotb, Jenna and Michelle.
Many viewers took to social media to encourage the network to hire Michelle in a more permanent role.
One fan said — “Michelle needs more screen time in general.”
Another chimed in — “Michelle looks amazing and as always hilarious!”
In other Friday news, Jenna surprised viewers when she bluntly called the Kardashians “fake” and “phony, amid a conversation about the Yassification filter, which transforms a facial image into a cartoon character. The hosts went through a list of filtered celebrities to see if they could identify them, before weighing in on the trend.
“No, no,” Hoda Kotb said over and over, shaking her head.
“So fake and phony. Are we turning everyone into a Kardashian?” Jenna wanted to know. “Is that the point?”
The video was shared on Twitter and fans sounded off about Jenna’s outspoken assessment.
One fan tweeted — “Lmao Jenna ‘it looks SO FAKE- are we turning everybody into a Kardashian?!’”
Another asked — “Why are humans so hateful and jealous of other humans?”
In March, Jenna took aim at the famous family on live TV when she slammed Kourtney Kardashian for posting photos snapped inside of her bathroom.
Jenna, 41, and Hoda Kotb, 58, hashed out the Instagram post, which featured an image of a romantic setup inside the reality star’s bathroom. The snap included champagne bottles and various plated meals spread across the tile floor. The bathtub was filled with pink water, setting a seemingly romantic mood.
The Today hosts weren’t on board with food being served in the bathtub area.
“I don’t like the idea of bringing food into the bathtub or anywhere close to that area,” Jenna said. “Guess what happens in there? The same thing that happens in my bathroom that’s a lot smaller.”
Hoda dissolved into laughter as Jenna Hager went on — “There are certain rooms called dining rooms, [and] kitchens, and they were named that way because the bathroom, one or two activities are supposed to happen there.”
Jenna Hager quipped — “Eating is not one of them.”
Hoda suggested that a “a nice drink in the tub” is acceptable, but Jenna did not back down.
“I don’t really do that either. I’ll have some tea, maybe. Yes. But eating food? Eating a burger?” Jenna remarked.
Hoda Kotb finally admitted that she agreed with Jenna, commenting — “Look, I’m trying to play devil’s advocate here, but I would never eat a burger in the bathroom.”
